But on Wednesday, Musk changed his Twitter profile to "Chief Twit" and posted a video of himself walking into the company's California headquarters carrying a sink.

He is getting rid of everyone and everything but the kitchen sink. LOL

"Let that sink in," literally!

“Musk said he realizes Twitter "cannot become a free-for-all hellscape where anything can be said with no consequences.”

Oh. But. Wasn’t he going to…so…it’s going to be pretty much the same as it is now then. Okay.

-11 ( +8 / -19 )

The billionaire entrepreneur pursued the $44 billion deal "because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner," Musk tweeted.

What civilized way of saying: spending $44 billion on your own social media playground to turn Twitter into a MAGA cesspool..

What civilized way of saying: spending $44 billion on your own social media playground to turn Twitter into a MAGA cesspool..

No, but it seems the left were quite ok to allow Twitter to be a one party, one group think far left outlet? Why? Only one side of the debate counts? Not anymore, thank God.

Many have canceled their Twitter accounts.

Twitter's main tweeters are flying away. According to documents obtained by Reuters, the 10% of users who generate 90% of tweets have been in absolute decline since the pandemic.

Many have canceled their Twitter accounts.

Good, many that were banned or reluctant to join can, and will do so now without worrying about the right to voice their viewpoints.

Twitter's main tweeters are flying away. According to documents obtained by Reuters,

Twitter ran off more than a third of their base and now these people can come back

the 10% of users who generate 90% of tweets have been in absolute decline since the pandemic.

Now they have the chance to come back especially the ones that had money, power and were banned.

-7 ( +14 / -21 )

bass4funk

did you miss the memo? The top 10% who generated 90% of the Tweets left.

-1 ( +10 / -11 )

Fire 'em all, and rebuild.

He walked in with the Kitchen sink, which was clearly an "anti-opposite" statement to "everything but the Kitchen sink"....

3 ( +7 / -4 )

No, but it seems the left were quite ok to allow Twitter to be a one party, one group think far left outlet? Why? Only one side of the debate counts? Not anymore, thank God.

Literally none of this is true, hth.

7 ( +19 / -12 )

Twitter is a cesspit. Users are subject to doxxing, death and rape threats and their employers targeted so they lose their job. Reporting any of these things are near impossible due to twitter’s current reporting guidelines being so narrow. Paedophiles openly talk about their activities on twitter. Calling people names and disagreeing is one thing, other stuff is too disturbing to be left on the site. Moderation needs to be more targeted at the latter, rather than the former which is the norm now.

21 ( +21 / -0 )

No, but it seems the left were quite ok to allow Twitter to be a one party, one group think far left outlet? Why? Only one side of the debate counts? Not anymore, thank God

I use Twitter. You can find stolen election and scamdemic stuff there. I don’t know about Jewish space lasers and staged school shootings - that stuff turns my stomach.

-2 ( +10 / -12 )

I don't trust him one bit.

4 ( +14 / -10 )

Twitter is a business model.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

I am hoping that this would allow for more right-wing discussion on the internet. Reddit has gotten even worse in recent weeks with the mid-term elections coming up and the collapse of the UK economy to the point that the middle class are getting discriminated out.

Still haven't heard any reaction to those trumpeting Musk's takeover of Twitter to his plans for making it a Chinese style "super app" data harvesting powerhouse.

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/10/05/elon-musks-twitter-plans-may-take-inspiration-from-chinese-super-apps.html

I suspect a real supporter of human freedom, Musk's inspiration Iain Banks, would hope that Twitter does not become an even more regressive force in human development.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

After years of the Left overreaching, of canceling and restricting and banning (because they have to protect "freedom"), it sort of feels like a lot of people have had enough, and the pendulum is swinging back the other way. Not a bad thing.

All the Right asks for it to be allowed to exist, and to have access. Sorry if the totalitarians of the Left feel threatened by having actual competition of ideas coming up against all their lunatic movements, silly opinions and screeching, one-way diatribes...

-2 ( +13 / -15 )

Still haven't heard any reaction to those trumpeting Musk's takeover of Twitter to his plans for making it a Chinese style "super app" data harvesting powerhouse.

It’s bit different from what the left is thinking. Your date is already harvested when you use Google, or Yahoo, or Facebook, or Instagram, nothing new.

I suspect a real supporter of human freedom, Musk's inspiration Iain Banks, would hope that Twitter does not become an even more regressive force in human development.

Doubt it.

-7 ( +7 / -14 )

Twitter dictator !

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

I think I opened a Twitter account a long time ago. I never really used it. I have no idea what my handle or password is. Musk taking over won't change anything for me.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

It’s bit different from what the left is thinking. Your date is already harvested when you use Google, or Yahoo, or Facebook, or Instagram, nothing new.

Thats a very low level of info and has nothing to do with that broken record about the "left".

Chinese style supper apps like WeChat combine payment and chat and are a cornerstone of the Chinese social credit system.

The lack of knowledge on the right about such things is also a real danger.

5 ( +10 / -5 )

Thats a very low level of info and has nothing to do with that broken record about the "left".

The left are the last people to talk about repeating broken records! ROFL!

The lack of knowledge on the right about such things is also a real danger.

I hate to break this to you, but liberals aren’t the only one that know how to use Google, and you’re just reiterating my point once again, and I’m glad musk is putting a stop to this madness from the left.

-11 ( +7 / -18 )

I hate to break this to you, but liberals aren’t the only one that know how to use Google, and you’re just reiterating my point once again, and I’m glad musk is putting a stop to this madness from the left.

I think the word "reiterate" does not mean what you think it means.

How does Musk making Twitter into a WeChat style superapp that will create an unparalleled level of data harvesting in the West contribute to "free speech" or stops the "madness from the left".

4 ( +10 / -6 )

I haven’t used any social network for more than 10 years.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

I think the word "reiterate" does not mean what you think it means.

Actually, it does, that is why I said it.

How does Musk making Twitter into a WeChat style superapp that will create an unparalleled level of data harvesting in the West contribute to "free speech" or stops the "madness from the left".

By allowing both sides to speak out. Right now, Twitter is a nightmarish liberal echo chamber, but that will stop very soon.

-6 ( +8 / -14 )

The fired CEO will walk away with $60 million ( US ). Enough for his lifetime and more!

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Right now, Twitter is a nightmarish liberal echo chamber, but that will stop very soon.

Even if you believe this false proposition, WeChat style superapps have been shown to lead to extreme levels of surveillance and social control beyond what the current crop of western apps present.

But yes, keep believing that Musk that once Trump gets back on Twitter everything is going to change.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Even if you believe this false proposition,

I don't believe it to be false.

WeChat style superapps have been shown to lead to extreme levels of surveillance and social control beyond what the current crop of western apps present.

You already said that.

But yes, keep believing that Musk that once Trump gets back on Twitter everything is going to change.

Yes, a lot will

-8 ( +6 / -14 )

Seems like that CEO took Elon Musk to court to ensure his own very lucrative exit.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

36 million pay off for one guy

Wow that's a nice parachute

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Wonder what plans Beijing Elon has for Twitter.

Twitter executive are glad, watch Twitter implode, being force to buy a useless platform for Billion,he should of paid the 1 billion dollars break up fee

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Others make million off of Twitter, getting free advertising

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

I don't like the guy.

But that said despite not liking him I was shocked at all the negative reports and fake information put out by mainstream media and others.

Rumors he was going to fire 70% of twitters employees turned out to be false and just malicious propaganda spread by mainstream media

Despite the guy being in the owner and founder of some of the highest Tech businesses in the world he is against remote work from home.

So the MSM took his comment that anyone refusing to return to the office would be fired and a survey that 70% of twitter workers want to continue working from home mash that together and squint really hard and you have:

"Musk said he is going to fire 70% of twitter workers"

See how that works!

Welcome to the New world order and how the mainstream media manipulates things.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

For the lefties and other sore loser types who are bemoaning this turn of events, I simply say this: "if you don't like it, why don't you make your OWN Twitter?"

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

Musk is vey good at manipulating the media to his advantage.

Today 03:51 pm JST

Twitter executive are glad, watch Twitter implode, being force to buy a useless platform for Billion,he should of paid the 1 billion dollars break up fee

A few months ago I would have agreed but with Tik Tok and YouTube going crazy censoring channels and places like Ruble seeing 70% plus growth year on year.

It looks like people are looking for less restrictive platforms.

If twitter under Musk can lower the censorship their is a good chance it can do well even grow

It will still not interest me either way.

Don't have Twitter (or the rest only business instagram) and not about to get it.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Musk is remaking himself from up and coming business elite to obscene has been, from respected and admired to reviled and undesirable element. He is fast becoming a pariah.

It wont be long until he moves to either Russia or China where he will be welcomed and embraced as he is expected to toe the party line.

To much wealth and power makes even nice people loopy.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

More like Rumble In The Jungle.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

"The benefit of the doubt"? Are those the same people who were willing to give Drumpf "the benefit of the doubt"?

Musk states in a lofty manner what he imagines Twitter to be. But at the same time, he's willing to let Donster Drumpf back on the platform, where, like the dictator he wants to be, he will seize control and amass his followers and they will do all that he says.

We're doomed.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

The 'Golden Boy' has, with any luck at all, just paid a fortune for the next "MySpace" or, even more appropriate, the next 'AOL'. The internet changes swiftly and, in internet years, Twitter is entering senescence. This should be fun to watch...

1 ( +3 / -2 )

There is nothing wrong with the former President being allowed back on Twitter. He will drive views and traffic like no one else can.

Again, if you dont like it, you can feel free to create your OWN online messaging platform.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

This may be interesting. Let's see how it pans out.

A world run by activists would not be pleasant. Freedom of speech is important. If you implement a mechanism to ban opinions you do not like, it will be used to silence you when another regime takes over, so be careful what you wish for.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Musk is vey good at manipulating the media to his advantage.

That’s a great trait. That’s exactly why he’s so successful and a huge roll model and inspiration for millions

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Oh this is good. Very good.

The truth to a great many things will come out now that the millennial gatekeepers have been fired.

And, not to brag, but my Twitter followers of well over 300+ will no doubt swell to the upper hundreds now that my shadow ban ends today.

Where does this leave TrumpBook? It's interesting Trump people praise Elon because Elon likes Trump (but is making TrumpBook worthless if he lets Trump back in). But Trump people hate Gates and Bezos. Why is that? Tesla is down 50% YTD. Just about 0% of Trump people own Teslas but love Elson while they hate Gates and Bezos and 99.9% of them use Amazon and Microsoft.

Imagine having this comic book-like vision of the world!

He is indeed unattractive to many posters here but is incredible at the same time.

Big fan here.

Now Musk will be in the position of direct firing line whenever lawmakers in the world take Twitter to task

The EU has already tweeted back: “In Europe, the bird will fly by EU rules"

https://twitter.com/ThierryBreton/status/1585902650134257665

And if Musk loses too many Twitter employees, people are already complaining that Twitter reacts too slow whenever there's an issue - ya can imagine how much more complaints there would be with even fewer employees. And ya can bet that if the complaints are serious enough, that increases the chances that some Parliament somewhere will be subpoenaing Musk to appear in front of lawmakers - then cue the fireworks, lol

1 ( +2 / -1 )

it has been a wonderful day on Twitter to say the least.

All kinds of "inconvenient" facts are now allowed to remain posted.

Im not worried about Congress calling Musk in, he can just sit there and ignore their questions and/or gaslight like Dorsey did.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Deep implications going forward.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Tesla is down 50% YTD.

but up 9% in the last 5 days. Unlike poor Bezos and Gates and Zuckerberg.

overall, its a buying opportunity again right before Republicans (and Trump!) win the election in 11 days.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

Trump is not standing in any November election. He isn't even a politician at the moment. Just an ex-president.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

but up 9% in the last 5 days

I sold Tesla at it's peak and made a lot of money. I'm glad I did, otherwise my speculative earnings would be 50% of what I actually made.

overall, its a buying opportunity

How about TrumpBook?

But he needed $8 billion of taxpayer money first.

Musk got $8 billion in cold cash???

WOW! Links?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Twitter's top executives stand to make a total of $88 million between them if Elon Musk ousts them.

I sure wish I was fired by Elon. Will Twitter become the next Myspace?

2 ( +4 / -2 )

I sure wish I was fired by Elon.

Theres a few steps you have to accomplish first. Like being a CEO or a CFO.

Will Twitter become the next Myspace?

Suddenly in under 24hrs, the left has nothing but disdain for Twitter.

textbook example of the term "Sour grapes"

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Hearing rumblings that a certain Donald J. Trump will have his Twitter account re-instated on Monday, October 31st!!

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Who even needs Twitter?

all the liberal heads exploding....

Can't. Take. Much. More.....

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Suddenly in under 24hrs, the left has nothing but disdain for Twitter.

TrumpBook? What happens to TrumpBook when Elon lets Trump back in? But I don't use social media? And why do the right hate Facebook?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

TrumpBook? What happens to TrumpBook when Elon lets Trump back in?

Ok, Ill bite.

What is "TrumpBook"? is it Facebook? Is it Truth Social? Something else?

But I don't use social media

Have I got news for you!

Look down at your little keyboard. Now look at your screen.

You're on social media, chief!

And why do the right hate Facebook?

I didn't realize this was a thing. Who is the "Right"? What proof do you have that they hate Facebook?

(gonna be a long night)

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

"Right"? What proof do you have that they hate Facebook?

Because they banned Trump. Trump people also hate Bill Gates and Bezos. Why is that? TrumpBook is the social media platform that Trump built. The Trumpkeepers post there. They talk about stuff like how injecting Mr. Clean cures COVID because Trump said that

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Because they banned Trump. Trump people also hate Bill Gates and Bezos. Why is that?

Hmmm. Thats an intestine take.

Suddenly 2 wildly rich men are the darlings of the left?

Why is that?

TrumpBook is the social media platform that Trump built. The Trumpkeepers post there.

Dang. I just Googled "TrumpBook" again. Nothing. Are you sure you're not mixing up names?

They talk about stuff like how injecting Mr. Clean cures COVID because Trump said that

I found another one!!! He still believes the hoax!!

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

thats an interesting take

Apologies. My fingers are shaking Im so excited at the yuuuge news!

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

But he needed $8 billion of taxpayer money first.

Smart move, less of a burden than using Tesla stocks, he will make that money back in a few months easily.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Just an ex-president.

Like every other ex-President.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Smart move, less of a burden than using Tesla stocks, he will make that money back in a few months easily.

Always a good move to have your snout in the trough of taxpayer money. The right forget their capitalist ideals and become a bit socialist when their's other people's money available.
