Sonly used to make good stuffs. I own the coveted SCD-1 and it performs brilliantly even after 20 years later. But nowadays, they are a shadow of their former self. When Samsung catches up with Sony on the imaging sensor market, and you bet they will, that will be the last of Sony as we know it.

where's Samsung's Sony-beating TV's and phones?

Everybody knows Samsung is the largest phone producer in the world

Samsung is also the largest TV manufacturer in the world

With over 20% market share, Samsung has been the largest TV manufacturer since 2006. It was the world’s first TV company to launch fully HD LED TV in 2010 at Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Las Vegas. Samsung also accounts for almost 50% of the total 75-inch TV sales worldwide.

What people don't know is that Samsung is also the #1 memory chip manufacturer in the world (that's their main business)
