I do feel like there aren't any big breakthroughs like you would see in the early days where every year or two there would be a tremendous increase in processor and features, nowadays it seems like it's more about refining and adding gimmicks which aren't enough for consumers to want to upgrade if their current phone is fast and capable enough for their needs. It might turn out to follow the same trend as tablets, where there was a gold rush for a few years where every manufacture tried to outdo the other, but people stopped upgrading and now the market is much smaller and mainly focused on either low-end budget tablets for media or expensive high-end tablets for professionals. I can see smartphones following this.

Maybe run for President in 2020? Apple for President with Samsung for VP?

In my opinion, no matter, how many generations of living, humans must learn from history. Nothing can take control of the world even if they count space in it and every planet. There is a limit.

Wby do we have to rely on monopolies Google and the same suspects to 'lead the way' that just kills any startups or anything else actually innovative!
What happened to Google Glass? Oh that disappeared, remember that..

The next thing that smartphone makers need to do is how to make their phones cheaper and longlasting battery.

People have money. Thy just want to spend. Give them a new gadget to play with. They’ll buy. Need a new good idea.

The phone industry is entering a paradigm shift in 2019 with the launch of foldable and 5G phones.
It is just that Apple won't be a part of this paradigm shift. that's all.

In Japan, the major carriers restrict the phones' potential. For example, my handset has FM radio capability and can theoretically switch from cellular to wifi if it detects an open wifi signal, to name just 2 examples. My old handset cant work overseas because the carrier locked it even though I have done the unlocking procedures.
If customers are denied functions and services, and even cheated, then they will lose interest in the product quicker. How obvious is that?
