No pilot? No thanks.

Instead I guess they ran out of resources there and cannot anymore handle additional potential threats from above when already beyond the limits on the ground.

"electric engines humming softly"? Why do journalists keep pushing the myth that these air taxis will somehow be silent? Have they never heard the noise that even the smallest drone makes? The motors may be quiet, but the rotors need to displace a large amount of air and that will never be a quiet exercise. If these things ever fly they will be a source of serious noise pollution.

...Yes. Aparently at least the author of this article ignores the physics of sound.
Or may be he has the idea of Air Wolf... silent rotos.....those were cool though..

They're not taxis. They are aircraft. Not too dissimilar to a helicopter. They won't be whizzing people to supermarkets, schools, bars or hospitals. It reminds me of the hype way back in the day when helicopters were first invented. Everyone was going to have one. They still need a pilot's license, a takeoff and landing pad, and you must communicate with air traffic control. Rotors still make the WOKA WOKA sound. Blimey! You just need to listen to an electric drone. As for the pilot, who will take the blame for any accidents? A) shareholders. B) the company? C) computer programmer? and finally. Computers, Ai, and robots don't pay taxes. Only humans do.

Gee, what could possibly go wrong?

And no autorotation? No Thanks.
Personally, I wouldn't want to go up in that thing unless it had a ballistic parachute.
