It is a mistake. Video is part of a package and probably 50% of why we keep a Prime subscription. Free shipping isn't hard to get with our normal orders, so Prime doesn't add much for that. Our plan it to cancel Prime the day before the monthly bill happens or when we see the first commercial. Of course, plans could change.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but other services haven’t added a fee to current subscription levels in order to remain ad-free have they? I thought they had just introduced cheaper subscription rates for those willing to see ads while streaming.

In any case, I think it’s foolish. The price of prime membership in the countries this is likely to be introduced for is not cheap. If it wasn’t for the cheaper rate that we get in Japan, I probably wouldn’t be paying for prime myself.

youtube solved by AdBlock.this -if reality-will be solved by cancelling of Amazon prime subscription.

"To continue investing in compelling content and keep increasing that investment over a long period of time.................In other words we want more profits without paying out any thing. Luckily I have never used anything with Amazon in the name and never will.

Not directly maybe, but you’re probably using AWS somewhere.

This is basically putting a small pile of poo on your living room carpet and won't remove it unless you pay more. Thank you for your patronage.

Primer is already full of options that require extra payment, having ads just make it even worse compared with other options.

So its all going to the writers and other movie workers who are striking, right.... right?

Unimaginative and sad... Paying extra for crap nobody watches and jumping on the "everyone else is doing it" philosophy is far from adding value to the customer experience. Amazon needs to find executives that won't suck the future out of it's customers, workers and the business.

A plan by two rich white guys to get richer no doubt.

To continue investing in compelling content

Lol, compelling content? what?

It's fine with me. I just keep watching their shows for free if there's something to watch.
