Microsoft nears big bet on TikTok after risky LinkedIn deal shows promise

Now his orange highness is saying he won't allow any deal that doesn't include a large payment to the US Treasury claiming it is the US Government that has made the deal possible. He then issued a September 15 deadline for a deal to close or TikTok will be banned. His orange highness says if TikTok sells for $50 million most of it should go to the US. Talk about a shake down! Watch the lawsuits fly, and rightly so.

Anything MSFT touches, I avoid. Been burned too many times. Just easier to stay away.

Nokia - well, they killed the business by sending over a MSFT SVP to be the new CEO, then bought it for 75% off and .... you guessed it - killed it. This ruined the future of some of my still working hardware as Maemo was killed for the N770/800/900 series. What a beautiful product line for the time. A full Debian tablet with internet - glorious!

China will not like it, but this is what they do to foreign companies operating in China.

China will either threaten the family of the Chinese owners of TikTok or threaten to shutdown the company's sister app to TikTok that is only allowed for Chinese citizens.

The ironic thing is that Donald Trump's demand for a cut of the proceeds of a sale of TikTok as a condition of approval would be a blatant violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act if another country tried to do this to a US firm.

"Tik-Tok is evil, because the Chinese government has their fingers in it!"

... So the American Government must buy it! If any government is going to steal the user data, it better not be the Chinese!
