it wasn't very long ago it seemed like most people were saying, Apple is a wounded beast, its all down hill from here!

Yes the frequent predictions of Apple's demise are a little bit strange, Short sellers? Funds looking to create a buying opportunity.
you only have to see the hysteria every time Apple launch a "new" product to see they continue to occupy the sweet spot in their chosen markets.

I like Apple but damn they're expensive.

Apple make good hardware and their software links everything seamlessly. Expensive? Not really. Apple don't do the cheapo range so it looks expensive. Also, you can pick up a second hand MacBook Air for 50,000 yen that's still got plenty of life in it.
