An absolute hoax in my opinion. Am not sure I would want to downgrade to a phone which still has a huge visible home button on it.

Something is wrong with this. If something is a "budget...," then shouldn't it be less expensive, not more expensive? That doesn't make sense. This is the first I've read of a budget item being more expensive than its original or previous item.

$400 is not "budget" anything.

agree 100%. I was so happy when they did away with those silly buttons and went to all screen. I'll never buy another phone that has a home button. Don't need it

Apple still trying to milk that ancient, antiquated design.

Looking at that title, do they mean more expensive or more "expansive?"

I am still happy with my IPhone 6S Plus!

Correct ms if I'm wrong but shouldn't a budget phone be less expensive?

Hopefully they keep the fingerprint unlocking system! Face ID unlocking is so troublesome now that masks are a norm!

Humpf. Maybe because I have big fingers with lots of callouses and wear I find the Home button preferable to swiping the screen upwards as I must with the iPhone Xr my employer issued me. Between the two I prefer my SE.

A lot of people like the home button. Considering the latest iOS version runs on a 7 year old iPhone 6, means that this phone will last.

I agree, but respite is around the corner. The latest version of iOS will support FaceID with masks.

No. A budget item just needs to be less expensive than the alternatives.

Yeah, you are right but at the same time it makes one wonder if that really is a FaceID or eye biometric unlocking system instead! Also, if it’s FaceID with the mask on then is it really secure enough…hmmm!

Apple is a joke, expensive stuff that came out 2 years ago on other platforms. Buy it to feel cool and accepted, don't buy it for the tech.

Expensive, sure. But also the fastest phones and computers in the market.

Naw, I'll pass. Apple lost its damn mind.

@2020hindsights: they were faster for about 3 months, apple likes to continue to say it:

Nope. Nothing comes close to Apple's smartphones in terms of performance. Other phones are a generation behind.

But you will find many Android phones doing well in benchmarks. That is because manufacturers like Samsung, Huawei, OnePlus and Xiaomi run benchmarks in an artificial benchmark mode. Other applications do not run in this benchmark mode, which leads to benchmark results that do not correspond to real-world performance.

The same thing you said to me, but replace android with Apple.... There is a reason apple runs their "own" benchmark.
