The Xperia is doomed,

That's something the speculators got wrong then.

I will keep my iPhone 12 for 3-5 years with one battery replacement.

"look i have the fastest chip and 48 megapixel camera" takes picture of half eaten bagel, sends it with line...
People pay too much for new useless technology, use last year's chips, improve the software and sell it at a lower price.

""Apple’s latest line-up will be all at the same prices as last year’s models, the company said.""
Sure, I phones are already too expensive for the average consumers, and boy you will get shafted by the providers if you ever buy from them, Apple better shape up and start thinking about the average consumers that made it what it is now, or they will start flocking Huawei, Xiaomi, Honor, Vivo, OnePlus and Samsung .

Now my iphone 13 will magically slow down as if it was bought 5 years ago.

A friend of mine back home was and still using iphone 6 and the last time we met he bragged about how reliable and light weight it was, so I held it and it felt really good, size matters as you all know, LOL

Megapixels are overrated, I prefer having a larger sensor. Was kinda hoping the new airpods pro 2 would be water proof to compliment the apple watch when swimming.

I was hoping a new Ipad would be announced because my youngest wants one. I want a new one because it is likely to be USB-C and means I won't have to carry another charging cable just for that one device. We have an older Ipad that broke at the connector and can't be charged. That connector is really poorly designed. The posher Ipads have all gone USB-C already.
It sounds like the announcement will be made next month. If the new one is not USB-C, I'll buy a used Ipad Air. fwiw, I want an Ipad because they're good for drawing on. I wouldn't buy one just for watching stuff.

With the exchange rate, Japanese prices will go up.
In dollars, iPhone 14 128 GB, $800
but with trade-in
iPhone 13GB $470 off.
iPhone 12 128GB $320 off.

Wait till the the Japanese yen stabilizes then start looking for a new phone, at this point you may end up paying an extra 20% more if you buy this year.

Nobody is flocking to the Chinese vendors outside of China. Also as the export restrictions from US gets stricter and stricter, it will hit those companies the hardest as they cannot secure the chipsets and sw needed.

I didn’t think I would be that impressed by the new iPhone but the new “dynamic island” thing is kind of nifty. Really like the new watch although it’s kind of huge.

Rather buy a car. Funny how they state they're the same price as the last models but don't actually give a dollar amount. Yeah, shows they're way overpriced.

It is a niche product and does well in the market it is aimed at.
You're comparing peas to shrimp.

Steve Jobs daughter Eve ripped Apple with a tweet of a man opening a Christmas present with a shirt just like the shirt he's wearing.
The caption is "me upgrading from iphone 13 to iphone 14 after Apple's announcement today"

These events used to be must-see when Steve Jobs was alive
It's a case of diminishing returns - there's only so much ya can do with the same hardware form

Dynamic Island appears to embed the iWatch into the iPhone.
Most new phones add little nowadays. An absence of glitches and bad design choices would be good, as well as a substantial, removeable battery.
I'm no fan of Apple and have never owned an iPhone. I dread to think how much it has cost and how much e-waste has been created by fanboys buying every new one. Emergency SOS via satellite and Crash Detection do seem interesting, although crash detection can be done in an app.
I'd like to see much more use of ad hoc connectivity. In an emergency, like a quake, users' phones may lose telco access, but could build an ad hoc network, linking together, passing messages across an undernet that would allow one phone with a net connection, or an emergency satellite WiFi hot spot, to connect all of those phones to the net. Distributed apps could use the same system, passing information without going through ISPs, allowing a whole new generation of utilities, social media apps and games to be produced.

I had iPhone 4S and upgraded to 7 following by the next upgrade to 13Pro. So probably next will be 18 Pro. What's different between 13 and 14 ? Emergency and Satellite services that will be available only in US?
Apple got my money just a week ago for Macbook Pro M1 14"

I haven't had a phone for over 13 years. They seem a huge waste of time and money.
A good book and my MacBook Pro are perfect substitutes. .
