Apple fixing iPhone 4S battery drain

the hypocrisy is unbearable.. if this was a Samsung with battery problems.. you would be saying that it is pure crap.. since it is an Apple.... then your respponse is.. "hey these things happen"... Apple worshippers never fail to amaze me!

On the contrary, as I stated "these things do happen" regardless of maker, that is just the usage or normal wear and tear of the project or sometimes there are glitches or faulty parts that can come up, other than that, I still think Samsung is piece of crap compared to iphone, but that is just the proven Apple lover in me and knowing that it is overall a better product.

Hmmm, Kamakura, it is nice down there. I go there every day virtually via Ustream. I wanna go again for a cup of tea. I hope your iPhone will work forever.

Bugs, Bad batteries, Viruses and overpriced.. my little green robot is looking better and better.. not to mention a bigger and better screen, more RAM and a better processor among other things.. Wow!

Don't get me wrong, I love my iPhone 4S, and I loved my iPhone 4, but as in antenna-gate, when Apple said "a few customers" (everyone?!?!) have antenna problems, it was a gross underestimate, for PR. And again they are underestimating the problem with this battery issue. If they just say, "we have a problem, sorry, we'll fix it asap," I would be happy to wait and see. But in this response and the previous one, it seems to me that they are just dismissing my petty whining. They need some lessons on taking responsibility and dealing with their customers responsibly.

Even with this battery imbroglio, Iphones are still the best smartphones out there. Android carriers are saying that Android will cost them more than 2 billion dollars/per carrier/per year due to hardware malfunction, not to mention that Android is a virus paradise. Add to this bitter formula the fact that this 2 billion dollars/year cost will be shared with all Android owners. Windows Phone are good, well, for Windows-minded people. Iphone 4S has this battery problem, but it's only this and nothing else.

It will probably last two years or more, same as all cell phones now do, more or less. The only cell phone, in fact, that i've ever had the battery die on me completely is a Sanyo model I bought before my old iPhone, which when fully charged towards the end (or so it said) lasted maybe five minutes. My old iPhone, now retired but still providing service in wifi areas, works just fine, and my even older and original iTouch (no speakers, hence it is the original version) still works as well, though the home button has become a bit dodgy.

I've been in Japan for quite a while now, and had a number of cell phones. All have worked well save said Sanyo towards the end, and if, and I mean IF, the Apple iPhone in question craps out after months you should THEN complain about it, not project what may or may not happen. I will say one thing about battery life, though -- a lot of people will plug in their phones for charging at any chance they get, but that reduces the life of the battery if it has not been completely used. If you have a device that can COMPLETELY use the batter y power before recharging (most video cameras use to have these, for example) you should, or you cut the overall life by months if not longer. Very inconvenient, but true.

And you never fail to say the exact same thing and be utterly predictable. Siri could have told me you'd say this -- and that's but a computer that Samsung will try and copy then cry about patents with. Yes yes... apple fanboys and all that.

Dang, hit ENTER too early. I also wanted to state this didn't happen in Japan where "making waves" is to be avoided at all costs and "non-involvement" is ingrained into the populace. This happened in the States where 911 is drilled into everybody's heads except, I guess, Apple employees. The employees were at no risk in dropping a line to the police and saying they may want to check out the store next door. Still they decided to stay out of it. This was a manager hired by Apple to run one of Apple's stores and one of the store's "Geniuses". Apple's decision-making was clearly flawed in this regard.

Nothing to do with the battery, but a lot to do with the company's decision-making (or decision avoiding) processes.

Yeah most smartphones have this problem, with android you just buy a stronger battery, in case of the iphone you buy a battery case like the ones from mili. A big powerfull battery is well...big.

I could point you to any Japanese convenience store, hundreds of shinkansen riders, and pretty much any Kouban in the nation here and you'd see the same thing -- although unlike with the Kouban these 'geniuses' probably weren't given permission to take a fleeing man back outside and beat him to death by the yakuza that told the police officer in charge it was okay. See how easy that was? So again, what does your link and comment have to do with the battery issue?

Apple needs to spend less time messing up their phones and more time training their Apple Store "Geniuses" how to dial 911.

When? Apple has at ONE time that I recall been hit by a virus and that was for a contest to see if they could create a virus to hit it (and someone did after nearly twelve hours, changing the icon).

Granted, that was a major flaw when the iPhone four came out (which other companies scrambled to copy), and was soon after corrected. I believe it was more a case of the cases sold along with the products, which money was refunded for and then it was given out for free later.

Anyway, you can relax. I said half of what I said the way I said it because it always gets brings ire of non-Apple users when it's pointed out to them they use inferior products (that's me doing it again, by the way). What do you recommend instead? a Vista-based phone? (how long did Vista last after being delayed for more than two years, by the way?).

Bottom line is that a battery's not going to last long if you use the product a lot -- and most people I see with iPhones are on them more or less all the time for one purpose or another. In a way I think this relatively minor defect is a GOOD thing -- it teaches Apple a little humility where it has been more or less perfect compared to other companies. Now, along with the antenna, you have one more flaw you can add to your list of can-count-on-one-hand problems with Apple.

No smartphone lasts more than a day. But as a previous iPhone 3G owner, I found the battery life on the iPhone 4S to be less, though not significantly.

Hahahaha. "A small number," my eye. I, and at least 75% of my friends, have problems with fast battery draining. I fixed it a bit by turning off all notifications, location services, setting time zone, mail fetch, etc.

This is a major problem with iPhone 4S, and probably iOS5.

Apple has acknowledged the problem, if minimizing it, and is looking for a fix, so to deny it is absurd.

They said the exact same thing when ios4 was releases, they releases a "fix" for it.. that changed nothing but made people think apple had done something... I suspect the same thing to happen here.

The battery it not upto the mark. Even I am having problem with early battery drain. Please fix it soon apple.

But it's NOT a Windows phone. The phones with problems are the Apple ones. That's the point. Iphones have been attacked by viruses, in addition to being plagued by faulty antennas and other problems.

My battery has been working pretty well, and I haven't noticed any more drainage than usual. At least it's just a bug and not a virus. If it were a Windows-based phone there'd be complaints about hacking and viruses, with Windows promising a new OS next year (but coming out with it, and then another when it fails, in three to five years). :)

I'm typing you all from my Apple iPhone 4 and this battery is crap!!! It sucks the big one!! And you cant even replace it!!!!!

I am still waiting for mine to arrive at SoftBank with the 3Gs trade in. Hope the battery is good, as my first 3Gs battery ending up dead with an hour of being turned on.

iPad2 battery is excellent. I run it to zero once a month or more and did that the very first day I got it and that saved it.

It is in the instruction manual. I will do the same with the phone.
