Apple holds edge in app store trial despite nagging issues

Its App Stores are regional - as a developer you have to specify where to distribute your apps, so here in Japan, we only have a limited set of non-Japanese Apps.

Really? I would imagine that most developers would want to publish to as wide an audience as possible. I guess some developers won't release their app if they don't localize it, but this is silly. Many Japanese would use an app with non-Japanese text.

I am happy to say that my sole app on the App Store is localized in Japanese and sells there.

Also, you need to pay Apple a yearly subscription in order to be a developer - it's not much, but if you wish to simply publish Free apps, it all adds up.
