iPhone 5s(nooze)

And even a cheaper model for those who have to make do with a lesser android. Another game changer from Apple!

Cell phones are as addictive as heroin and as far as I'm concerned the companies that make and sell them are drug pushers.

Hoserfella.

Android being lesser? Used one yet? Right now android got the majority share of the market globally.

Die-hard Apple fan I guess and none of mine agree with you.

Again?

Apple makes some nice stuff granted but iphones are starting to feel like old symbian phones with the single icon and desktop look. Apple really needs to take a look at their products and stop thinking they have the best phone out there.

It's no secret Android copied heavily from iOS. The difficulty for Apple is, after accusing Android and Samsung of copying, they are in a position where they cannot borrow the good elements of rival companies. For example widgets are a great feature of Android OS, but Apple can't touch it because it will be plainly hypocritical.

Widgets come from OS X...

Eddie Craven: Bill Gates coined the term in 96, Microsoft had widgets with windows 98 and the active desktop of IE4.

it'S ME - You should read the article again. It states that many Android users bought them thinking they were getting a cheap iPhone. What the ad doesn't state is, those misinformed individuals are now stuck in a two year contract with a sluggish phone that has limited applications and a battery that lasts three to four hours at best. A few of my friends have Android phones and none of them are happy with them. However, many of my friends have iPhones and do not complain about them at all. I will be straight in to update my iPhone 4 as soon as the new one is released. I hope that Apple doesn't release a cheaper version of the iPhone. Why should they lower their standards just to compete with inferior products? Android phones are just copies of the iPhone and not very good ones. That's why I call them, an Andud phone!

Apple vs Android? Where do they come up with this drivel... Apple vs the COMPANIES that use Android and Android vs Android... because you can damn well be assured that Samsung is competing against apple as much as it is against HTC and the like.

On the trains here in Tokyo, I notice that younger people are using Android smartphones, while us older folk, trying to learn how to use these things called, IPhones, but I am in no hurry to change, I like my IPhone 5, and not too excited about the Iphone 4S, 5 etc..I think they are all over priced and and supply and demand goes, Apple is seeing more demand to cheaper Androids so something has to give, meaning Apple will have to lower prices to compete with Samsung etc..

rumors that they will be releasing a mid-market priced phone

I thought Samsung was going to bury Apple...

Despite thinking that iPhone5 is beautiful, I will keep using my 4S, I love it its design, aluminum and glasses, it its beautiful when you put it on a table while having coffee or lunch. It makes one look sophisticated, cool, cosmopolitan. And it works great. Here's Apple appeal, no other company can cause this sort of perception with their smartphones, be it original or a rip-off.

shrugs shoulders.

How old are these phones your "friends" are using/ what version of android are they running? You and others keep running out the tired old line over and over. it gets boring. Things have changed, anyone getting a new Android device will not suffer from battery issues. Those with the older devices form 2-3 years ago will see these newer devices are realize the big and continual improvements and they may have been burned as early adopters, but android is worth staying the distance

I have seen people with the latest android handsets that get 5 plus hours of screen on time out of phone, 2-3 days of total use before they recharge. (yes android gives you very detailed battery stats and graphs, and very accessible with one swipe and one tap)

Limited apps? that is ludicrous, you can not be serious.

Stop comparing android phones of 2-3 years ago with ones from 2013. Android 2.1, 2.2 2.3 is not Andoid 4.1, 4.2. Android has made massive gains, Most balanced tech writers will tell you a premium handset like the HTC One with 4.2 or 4.3 is a superior device now.

I know dozens of iphone users who complain - their screen is broken/cracked, their phone is sluggish, the non replaceable battery wont hold charge, they are stuck with the default keyboard - no swype, they cant get the full features of gmail.....

Android is improving continually and have 79% of the market worldwide, Apple has 16% and shrinking. Not bad for a one handset niche player.

Carcharodon - its ingenious to lump all the phones that use android into one number v Apple. that 79% Android number doesn't break down the individual players within that market. Apple may have 16% overall, but what is this compared to Samsung (who is essentially their biggest competitor) - - comparing the operating systems to market share (which is ludicrous), Android is used in so many more phones than iOS so its naturally going to have a bigger share.. but those Samsung phones are also up against HTC and LG et all. Don't discount the fact that its an everyone v everyone marketplace.

And this is coming from someone who has an iPhone yet uses a Nexus 10 tablet - so I have no loyalty over one vs the other.
