While Apple only offers a single phone model across all markets, it has successfully marketed the iPod music player and its iPad in different sizes and at varying prices.

When the iPod Mini came out in anodized aluminum and all those 5 colors it really was a hit. Apple is really behind in the cell-phone size and shape wars and really needs something innovative. I would have the iPhone in a size/shape for everyone (maybe 5 sizes and shapes). The iPads should be able to be used as an iPhone out of the box also (not just data and forcing the use of Skype etc for calls). Colors not that big of a deal with all the case options out there.

Bigger and smaller also. Sometimes I want to be able to hold and type with one hand (standard iPhone you can do this). Galaxy Note 2 is really innovative with the battery lasting 24+ hours, split screen, stylus (pen) and large screen size.

==> Blow me away Apple ==> show me something innovative

Without Steve Jobs the design may turn worse with pink colors.

Is it being heralded as a revolution in smartphone technology? Who would have ever conceived having bigger screens on devices?

/sarcasm

try reading full on pdf texts on an iphone screen. can barely see it.

Last year, I took my wife to buy a Samsung phone but she didn't want it because it was too big for her small hands. Common problem here in Japan?

I find this happens to some people at first, but once they actually try the phone for a few days, switching back to a small screen is no-good, they love the big screen. I felt the same way at first "wow this screen is giant" but now when I look at a smaller screen or an I phone, those things are like toys.

Playing Catch Up, Samsung is miles ahead in all areas.

StormR: "Samsung is miles ahead in all areas."

You should be more precise. Exactly how many miles?

Samsung comes unlocked for a start, bigger screens, choice of colours, faster too i believe. Can be tethered without jail breaking etc etc.

"Yes it is an amazing revolution of innovative technology."

Samsung fanboys are hilarious. For starts, Apple already used plastic before in 3GS and Samsung copied that. Only that 3GS was and still is beautiful. And if these rumours are proven true, the new cheaper iPhone model will be another beautiful plastic iDevice. Errr, Samsung is saying that its next Galaxy iteration will have an aluminum body. Again Samsung is copying Apple. But I don't care about that, people with ugly Samsungs belong to a world I don't interact much with. Let me return to my exploration of iOS 7, the best ever.

"Let me return to my exploration of iOS 7, the best ever." You really work for Apple don't you, since ios 7 won't be available till September, you must know something we don't...

I like sony Xperia phones, far more durable and fast enough. My Acro is waterproof. (my last galaxy died with a splash of water).

@Lost-in-Nagoya-

Funny, because I heard you saying that plastic is cheap and ugly.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Now you are praising the use of plastic because it's being used by Apple? Oh the irony.

Gosh, you fandroids are really misinformed, aren't you? Apple released iOS7 beta version for registered developers, for experimenting and improvement until it's released to the general users in September.

Ah so now you're a developer? Well salesman or developer, I always knew you had a agenda..anyways enough energy wasted on nothing, but a bigger iPhone would be welcome, I just hope they'll introduce widgets...that would make workingon a big screen much easier..

Affordable smartphones will be a boon for small business people in the likes of Africa. Bring it on!

@LostinNagoya Ah no wonder you have such biased opinions towards Apple.

@LostinNagoya Ah no wonder you have such biased opinions towards Apple.

Uh? You two don't make sense at all. Since when being a developer means that you have to opt for either iOS or Android? Most developers create apps for both, some even for Windows too. I don't work for Apple or am a dedicated developer.

Sure my friend, we believe you.

Plastic casing and bigger screen? What arguments will iSheep defend their beloved toys with now?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

@Magnet

Apparently plastic is beautiful now! <-- According to our die hard Apple fan LostinNagoya.

Should STAYLostinNagoya. Along with all the other iSheep.

"...has sought ways to re-energize its flagship line."

Hit the coffin-nail on the head there. In today's technology market, you don't re-energize a line of products...you evolve them into something new and competitive. Putting a paint job on an inferior product doesn't make it go faster.

I especially LOVE the hype they're trying to garner about colored plastic, especially since we're all going to chuck it in a case soon as we get it anyways.

Since when was performance the big issue? Maybe two years ago. Now it's a non-issue. The issue now is superior build quality (Apple) or bigger screens (Samsung). Oh yes and battery life which is moot. (If you have a Note 2 the battery life is good because it is massive. iOS is still more efficient in power use, so Apple can make smaller devices.) Oh and some irrelevant things like memory cards and HDMI ports which nobody uses anyway.

Apple at times reminds me of Henry Ford 'You can have the Model T in any colour as long as it is black.'

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I bet that 10 years from now there will still be a bunch of people buying Apple's products, and Apple will be making big profits.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@Serrano, I totally agree. So long as there are fools in the world, Apple will have a market to profit from.
