*Apple originally planned to released the ant-tracking feature last September*

I wonder if they will broaden this so that other insects can be tracked in future updates :)

I really like the look of the new iMacs. Think I'll get either a blue or a red one.

Apple announcement used to be a great excitement. No more.

I don't know how long they can survive by selling what Steve Jobs has created. Tim Cook is a good businessman, utilizing well what Jobs has left. But he is not an innovator.

It is hilarious that so many people go on about government and being tracked or that Vaccine passports, IC chip drivers license, etc.. will lead to government tracking.

Then go out and buy things like airtags, etc.. which we know by past experience these companies end up collecting all the data they can .

So Apple is going to update privacy to block places like FB. But then collect everything they can as based on the user agreement you have to agree to to use any Apple product.

New multi colored iMacs. 24" from $1,300.

Don't forget the additional cost of redecorating your room to match the color. :-)

(Note: I read that these new iMacs are limited to 16GB of RAM. It seems we'll have to wait a little longer for the higher specced versions to replace existing equivalents.)

Already replacing the use of laptops.

Not quite yet, especially when it comes to complex assignments like music or film, Apple still has a way to go before it do heavy tasks such as Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro.

We really like our three iPads of which one is an iPad Air with a nice pen. The fingerprint log in is finicky though.

iPhone 11 rocks too. So does the Mac Mini, but the headphone jack was broken from day one so just went through the monitor to hook up speakers as a hassle to bring it back and wait for a new one.

Yes, that's a current limitation of the M1 package (the CPU and RAM are packaged together)

That feature, called App Tracking Transparency, will force apps to obtain permission before collecting such surveillance data, even those that are already installed on the device. To date, such apps have been free to track iPhone users automatically unless people take the time and trouble to prevent the snooping.

"Tech giants in China are developing ways to bypass Apple’s new privacy rules"

https://9to5mac.com/2021/03/16/china-tech-giants-trying-bypass-apple-privacy-rules/

According to a new report by the Financial Times, the state-backed China Advertising Association, which has 2,000 members, launched a new way to track and identify iPhone users called CAID. This system is being tested by tech companies and advertisers in the country.

Apple, on the record, says it won’t grant any exceptions.

But two sources cited by the Financial Times who are familiar with the matter believe that if Apple takes action, it will be a problem for the company in China.

Tech analyst Zach Edwards says: “They can’t ban every app in China. If they did it would effectively trigger a series of actions that would get Apple kicked out of China.”

Rich Bishop, chief executive of AppInChina, a leading publisher of international software in China, suggests to the Financial Times that Apple might “‘make an exception” because tech companies and the government are so “closely aligned.”

If Apple allows that in China, ya betcha other companies would complain about fair play and do the same - and that'd be the end of that feature

Apple supports both Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro

I already know that being an Apple user since 1995 thanks anyway, but that’s not what I was talking about. iPads for the most part don’t support or offer or have the processing powers that the the Mac computers have. The new ‌iPad Pro‌ models that now support Thunderbolt, making them compatible with additional external, it’s good news, but now quite there yet.

The majority of users including those in business can replace their laptops with an iPad

Not in Hollywood and not in the music industry quite yet, but one day, some day, I think it will. But for now it’s a handy control device that I can use as a Logic Pro remote

I have a brother in New York, professional full time sound engineer and musician with a studio. Macbook Pro's and iMac Pro's and an iPad Pro which he uses for more than a Logic Pro remote.

Logic Pro X does not work at all on iOS.You can only use Logic Remote to control Logic. (Or other screen sharing/control surface solutions) I get what you’re saying, but it’s still not the standard yet and won’t be for some time. Again, it’s getting there, but when I’m out in the field and doing my work, it’s not suitable yet, I hope it will be one day.

No they aren't. Apple is a privacy first company.
