Having switched to Bluetooth headphones a couple of years ago, I'd be more than happy to not have a headphone jack. No adapter for me.

And apparently it's so the phone can be waterproofed.

Given the choice, we'd rather have that option (just in case**) than a few millimeters of extra thinness that's not noticeable nor that much more helpful (really, what would we use that slight extra thinness for? the phone's already pretty thin), instead of the extra inconvenience of having to have an adapter.

[** There are situations we run into when Bluetooth headphone or Bluetooth speaker is not possible. The pros and cons side with keeping this option than taking it away.]

There are already waterproof phones with still a headphone jack. The headphone jack is not a problem.

But we do expect wireless charging on the iPhone 7 since other phones already have that too.

my 2 year old galaxy s5 is waterproof and has a headphone jack. Dont believe for a second apple is removing it for waterproofing, they are removing it so they can sell more headphones.

Bluetooth is the future, everything is going to be wireless. If you don't want to have jack-less iPhone, then stay with the 6S and below. Simple as that. Still, iPhone 7 is said to come with wired headphones that can be connected thru the charging port and that the wireless earbuds are optional.

And computers are taking out the headphone jack too
