Not seeing how it is any different or tailored for AI, outside of we won't purposely slow down your phone yet when you try to use AI

This is a game changer for smartphone technology. Good luck to everyone trying to get one soon.

I'm not following this that closely but Apple says that by default AI is being run on the device and not in the cloud. Cloud is an option but the user makes that choice so this theoretically is better for those who value privacy highly.

It's just a fad that will soon go away, at least for the consumers market. Just like the VR headsets.

The real smart and innovative step is not that smartphones getting AI feature fake, but in fact redirecting and splitting many of the former own costs now to the many millions of users, who now will pay for the AI chips, the energy, the time and other resources needed for processing.

Correct. And the cloud option is private as well.

If you want to send it to ChatGPT, then that's your choice, because that's where privacy ends.

As a musician and filmmaker, I just care about the camera, those are really the only features I care about. I just preordered my Pro Max.

"Apple Intelligence" is a new suite of software features for all devices that was announced in June at the company's annual developers conference, where it also announced a partnership with ChatGPT-maker OpenAI.

Ok, the hardware is virtually the same as previous gen, other than a camera shutter button. The rest is software, most of it driven by OpenAI. Good luck Mr Cook, don't get dizzy in your spin machine.

I've never had a phone. Never needed one.

My MacBook allows me to do all I need to do to stay in touch etc.

Apple Intelligence is an Apple product. It's not OpenAI.

@Garthgoyle

This comment shows how little you know about the industry. VR headsets are going strong and are getting better each year. The average consumer might think "it's just a fad" but is far from it. The same for these AI powered tech. I would argue that it will only become more integrated with everyday life (like the internet) to the point where in a the near future people will wonder how people lived without it (kinda how google maps has mad using paper maps almost obsolete) but only time will tell.
