Dead man walking - hope they get a buyer to cash in on their patents.

In the end, I buy a phone by what it can do regardless of the brand, how much memory it has or the speed of it's processor. If it doesn't perform as I expect, then it's pretty much dead weight in my pocket.

RIM should really focus on selling it's OS and security platforms. The actual Hardware is quite lunky in design and has been suited for customers that wanted practicality over flash. I'm not sure they'll be able to modernize within the year seeing as they've not released a product on-time in the past 2 years. The clock is ticking.

just in time for Obama's re-election? (as an avid blackberry user)
I hope they can turn this around.. if for nothing else to add competition to the smart phone industry.. if only Apple or Samsung rule the space, then we are at their mercy for whatever they bring out

I'm a mac user and have been for many years. I also use an iPad everyday. Recently I bought a Docomo Blackberry 9900 and though it is not intuitive as an Apple product, in the field (so to speak) it really works well. Plus the hardware is gorgeous. Now Blackberry want to make products that look like very one else's, but are NOT (and never will be) as good?! Are they mad?! Stay small if you have to Blackberry, but if you want to stick around don't play catch-up. Docomo is the best carrier in Japan right now and the Blackberry 9900 with its lovely keyboard, is therefore the best communication device you can buy in this country.

Hoping they go back to basics, it was a great business tool.. but they missed the boat when they tried to market the same thing to non-business users. I have an iPhone myself... but without any of the apps, its basically just a cellphone and web-browser, which I gather most Smart Phones are

I don´t think many companies have been successful by abandoning a unique and successful design of their own, and instead switch to an inferior imitation of superior competitor. Looking in from the outside, I predict this business plan will be a massive fail.

actually the new BB10 will revive the brand. I'm sold already. There are a lot of unsatisfied android and apple users waiting to go to another platform. 4G playbook is on my shopping list too.

The Torch was a poor attempt by RIM to go head to read w/ apple and android....failed miserably!
