If you can't beat 'em, ban 'em. That's the good old American respect for 'competition'. Like being the last, by years, to develop hypersonic missiles and now announcing them as though great breakthroughs in America's technological capabilities, American Corporate doesn't want to face the people who have done the most in the world to advance the 5G technology and, almost without a doubt, offer the best technology for a better price. And given what we KNOW of NSA, CIA, FBI, mossad backdoor penetration into ALL Western communications, ANY worry about Huawei security begins to verge on reality denying psychosis. That's okay. Better American Corporations shut out superior competition and America sinks into lower expectations given all else that is failing in America. We'll get used to it...maybe a little jealous if we are allowed to see what the rest of the world is getting for even less money, such as actually good healthcare but...Hey! We're Number One!

China can not be trusted. Chinese companies can not be trusted. Everyone and every company answer's directly to the CCP and Jinping.

Canada bans China’s Huawei Technologies from 5G networks

Excellent news! Good on Canada!

> “The decision should have been taken two or three years ago, but it’s a case of better late than never,” Guy Saint-Jacques, a former Canadian ambassador to China, said of the move to ban Huawei. “We are faced with a China that is a lot more aggressive in the conduct of its foreign policy but also in the way it obtains information to achieve its goals."

Hear hear!

Time to wise up to the Security risks posed by anything Chinese - including those Employees you may have.

Start with those damn Confucius institutes. Shut them down completely.

Huawei has been caught stealing multiple times with nothing more than a slap on the wrist. Some of their equipment has been found to have multiple, known, exploits, so if you don't want your communications infrastructure aiding the CCP, it is best just to avoid it.

Even if the current equipment faults are just due to incompetence, which happens in every major company of the world, any update/patch can include CCP payloads.

It doesn't take much to insert an off-switch in network equipment. That goes for all vendors, so you'd definitely want to source from friendly nations.

But Canada should tie this to having those 2 Canadians freed, perhaps. Then just lose the paperwork, once they have returned.

And Canada can tie the lockdown under the Zero-COVID policy that prevents most Chinese people with strong ties overseas from leaving to the Huawei decision. Spouses separated. Students prevented from returning. Entire families prevented from returning to their permanent homes overseas. Reports of passports being destroyed and permanent residents of other countries who came back to China to help family then the official "green card" destroyed.

There are many things that aren't acceptable which could be tied to almost any Chinese contract.
