Casio Computer Co Ltd has announced two models of an electronic cash register that works in conjunction with smartphones.
The cash register, SR-S4000/C550, is connected with a smartphone via BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy). By using a free smartphone application, Casio ECR+, it becomes possible to use a smartphone to change the settings of the register, check the amount of sales, keep a journal, etc.
Data on the settings and sales obtained from the register are stored on a cloud server. Therefore, they can be checked from anywhere. And, even when the user purchases a new smartphone, it is not necessary to transfer data.
Casio will also provide the Casio ECR+ Premium fee-based cloud service (monthly fee: ¥1,980, excluding tax). The service enables a store to buy a stock of goods and keep track of gross profit. To use the Casio ECR+ Premium service, the data of the register must be transmitted to the cloud server by using Casio ECR+.
The SR-S4000 and SR-C550 have different kinds of keyboards, different numbers of sheets that can be printed with a built-in printer and different numbers of products that can be registered with the register. There are no manufacturer's suggested retail prices for the products, but both of them are expected to be priced at about ¥49,000 (excluding tax).
