M2M (Machine to Machine) connectivity is set to take off over the next few years, with home automation, healthcare devices, and telematics in cars as the main drivers, until we approach a point where everything and everyone is connected to everything and everyone - The Singularity - postulated by Ray Kurzweil to occur in 2045 but with many now saying it could be as early as 2025. Combine that with the development of AI (Artificial Intelligence), and mankind could be at a dangerous crossroads...

And that's the real problem. Not that the device itself has personal data so much as that it's a wide open door into your network and the other computers on it, that probably do have personal data
