NTT DoCoMo has unveiled its 2011 winter — 2012 spring product lineup of 24 models for launch in or after November, including 14 smartphones.
The new lineup includes smartphones for DoCoMo's extra-high-speed next-generation LTE service, Xi, for mobile data communication at up to 75 Mbps (4 models) and smartphones equipped for mobile-wallet (Osaifu-Keitai), infrared-based data exchange, one-seg mobile TV and tethering (9 models).
Enhanced features for smartphones include dual-core CPUs (7 models), large HD-quality liquid crystal screens and high-spec cameras.
All smartphones are equipped for Area Mail transmissions of earthquake early warnings from the Japan Meteorological Agency.
DOCOMO also launched two all-new services for smartphones, dmenu and dmarket. The dmenu portal site will provide a wide range of apps and other content from diverse providers, as well as enriched versions of DoCoMo's popular i-mode content, optimized for easy-to-use smartphone interfaces.
The new dmarket content store will offer a wealth of other content, including movies, music, e-books and Android applications. DoCoMo’s new smartphones also will have access to a variety of other DOCOMO services, such as i-concier for push-based concierge-like personal assistance.

24 new models, how confusing for the public. Is there anyone who can tell me how many they have released this year. Apple bring out 1 and the public worldwide are racing to get one. Confused.

No one gives a crap what CPU the phones have. Dual core CPU's dont mean a thing if you don't tell us what they are... the could be dual core watch CPUs

If you live here in Tokyo almost everybody watches TV in the train with one seg. If we have another major earthquake I'll be wishing my iPhone had one seg!!

Here in Tokyo One Seg is great!

One Seg - another nice feature to have that the iPhone simply can't provide. You'll want that next emergency.

docomo is the most expensive mobile provider in whole Japan. They better offer as many handsets as possible as they had lost a tremendous amount of business to softbank and their iPhone (and currently to AU as well since they started offerin an iPhone). If you don't care so much about the money docomo is sure the best, no doubts about it. For a monthly bill that you'd pay with docomo you could have almost 5 mobile phone sets with softbank (i pay on average 1.600 yen/ month with softbank and for the same deal with docomo they would charge almost 10.000 yen / month)....
