Driverless cars to be tested in California

I don't believe anywhere did it say that driverless cars would be mandatory. Also, I've seen lots of test footage of those things. I'd rather have a million of those to contend with than a million driving enthusiasts. Roads would be safer, insurance cheaper and immense reduction in fuel waste (such as when people take a wrong turn, get lost etc.).

“I think the self driving car can really dramatically improve the quality of life", ... er, for some people maybe.

I hope they have considered that some people actually enjoy driving.

Some people even find that driving their favorite car is just about the greatest pleasure in an otherwise humdrum daily life. Take that away and the last freedom is gone.
