I think email will still be the dominant communication technology at many workplaces. In the article, teenagers are using tools other than email, but they have yet to enter the workforce.
This revolution in communication technology is quite exciting.

i'm sure to the japanese this is important

Text messages!? How is that "more seamless" and "faster" than e-mail? I think text messages are far more "dead". The SMS service is just about dead in Japan, except for AU's Cmail etc, but I don't know anyone who even uses that. As for chatting. It's nothing like e-mail! It's like comparing writing a letter to talking on the phone. Why is Zuckerberg thinking like a 13 year old kid in 1992?

Looks like Microsoft Unified Messaging in Exchange 2010. Except for the MS product does voice mails too.

As long as companies continue to block SNS services for fear of security, or wasted employee performance time, adding email to facebook won't add value to business communication.

text messaging requires fast thumbs. I hate it. Give me a keyboard. my iPhone though types up pretty fast.

Can't disagree with this. Half my email seems to be Facebook messages as it is.

I still don't the difference between emailing and texting. Isn't it the same?
MrDog
Text messages are sent to a phone number. E-mails are send to an e-mail address.
Text messages have a word limit, e-mails don't.
Text messages are for people still living in the 90's.

I have to go take a peek at by FB (Facebook) before I can give an intelligent opinion ok?

And soon Facebook will have its own version of a search engine, a web browser and who knows what.

OK, I see. So for those of us who send messages (not novels) without photos etc, they're exactly the same.

I think facebook is a great tool to catch up with long lost relatives/friends. That's all I need it for, though. The mundane/pointless daily updates are just silly.

though i welcome in updates in the technology that makes contacting people less of a pain in the butt...i do suspect that despite the promises on privacy issues these kinda companies inevitably do what they want as much as they can get away with. I think id use their email address but not for important stuff, tho i think they already have all my personal info in their database. Google claims ownership of anything u send thru gmail and FB of anything u post....im going to regret that one day!

Facebook is soooo 2007... it's old school.

Joking, right?
And how about the QA and testing? 5 teenagers for 5 days?
