Well, every well-established theory deserves the occasional kick in the butt to keep it honest.
Warren Antiola
Many thought Einstein's theory was wrong and "ignorantly stupid" in his time. These guys may yet prove light is not the absolute fastest.

Amazing, Einstein had less equipment than modern scientists and they still confirm his theory. They may one day disprove it but gee, what a genius. Goes to show its not what you have in your hands but what you have in your head and how you use it. I wonder what Einstein could achieve with all this extra technology today, or maybe nothing more because possibly its not the technology that makes the difference.

renounced German citizenship in 1896 because he hated rote thinking and the authority of the state. became an American in 1940 and kicked off the Manhattan Project. major fail for the Germans. the rest is history

He renounced German Citizenship to avoid military service.

What a pity we couldn't find fault in the theory then ;)

Einstein was definitely brilliant and inspired.....he also said that socialism was the best form of govt. for the average person. Today he probably knows much more about space and time; if he has any interest in it now. Probably not though, having graduated from life in the body.

Einstein was indeed a genius in science, but his politics is a non-scientific matter.

Neutrino sounds like a special kind of Italian meatball, but anyway, glad they proved him right. Light is a particle and a wave and bends. That is very cool.

'faulty kit' means dodgy equipment.
Bang goes warp drive XD

"The story captured the public imagination, and has given people the opportunity to see the scientific method in action."
Are you kidding me? I only heard about this because a friend of mine really into science told me about it. I get updates about Kim Kardashian every damn day but a potential change in the fundamental laws of our universe and I don't hear a thing.

Very cute! You made my day!

Perhaps you're not visiting sites with news that really matter. Or not reading really interesting magazines. For this news was in CNN, American Scientific Magazine, all physics publications. This was so important that if proven right (neutrinos faster than light), scientists would have to review the last 100 years of technology that are related to quantum physics. Including the Macbook I am using right now and the device on which you are reading this comment of mine.
Jonathan Hunt
LostinNagoya, that's my point. Why was this extremely important news confined only to CNN and science publications? It should have been on every news site and in every newspaper in the world.

1 there are lot of thingsw people say Einstein said that he didn't actually say. 2 there are many thing einstein said that he couldnt explain or remember but he did work in a patent office and many of those germans were dead from the war so...

**Italian ideas are in the right way, by way there are speed faster than light we haven't instrumentation to detect it. Remember to measure something we need other more little than it, in our case they are traying to measure neutrino with electromagnetic meter (or waves) they are bigger than neutrino....
