Elon Musk is already has trials with the 'Tesla home battery' at ~100 homes in California. This allows the person to off-peak charge the home battery, and use it to power your home, recharge your Tesla, whatever you want to do... all off-grid during peak-time. The home battery can be recharged again off-peak, or by generator, or even by solar etc given you have enough panels.

quite a nice idea.

Why are we not all driving the only good choice in ground transportation? There are cars that run on compressed air. Made in France and India. Japan has the expertise to make this a reality for the roads of Japan. Why keep wasting time with gas and electric vehicles. Clean air, free fuel... Why do we not all have one? Too slow you say? Who cares they get you from A to B for almost free and we are cleaning the world as we drive.
