Elon Musk issues warning about 'humanoid robots' in AI 'age of abundance'

The owner of X, Elon Musk, has predicted the future with AI would be an "age of abundance" with a "universal high income" instead of a universal basic income but warned of "humanoid robots" that might chase humans.

Musk as usual cribbing his ideas from his professed inspiration, the Scottish anarcho-communist Iain M. Banks.

The SpaceX and Tesla CEO said there would come a point when "no job is needed." Jobs instead would be just for those who wanted one for "personal satisfaction".

In Banks novels, this was achieved before a ASI Singularity by creating a fair and compassionate society free of rapacious capital accumulation. Thus the ASI was aligned with those same values.

It is pretty far from the society we have today where the first glimmers of artificial intelligence can be seen.

First of all, the guy is dimwit. Second of all, I'm fairly certain that at least someone was predicting the Internet revolution would lead to an age of abundance. Without much better androids I don't see the positives as being that great and the negatives could be quite severe.

The UK still laying low key on Geo-political affairs because any who is not ignorant knows that the UK is responsible for all the problems with Israel and Palestine including the deaths of almost 10,000 women and children.

Of course, Musk's suggestion is to pause all development of such technology until he can create his own company and poach as many employees, so he can catch up and hope be the leader in that industry. The same way he attempted to take over social media and AI. We have seen it with Twitter and OpenAi. He is a failure when he does not have a nanny to keep him from making bad business decisions.

I believe his other companies will eventually push him out to stay profitable at some point. People will realize he is not as smart as he claims or believes if everyone else is developing all these ideas and technology while being more effective leaders. It is hard to maintain the lie with everyone proving him wrong.

He will spend the rest of his time chasing some psychadelic metaphysical utopia creating a cultish commune where he reproduces with multiple followers in an attempt to create some kind of chosen child or until technology allows him to live forever.

Well that is the right place to hold this meeting. Alan Turing, who was based at Bletchley Park is widely considered to be the father of artificial intelligence (AI). In 1950, he published a paper titled “Computing Machinery and Intelligence” in which he proposed the famous Turing test as a way to determine whether a machine could be said to be truly intelligent.  It has only taken 70 years for us to catch on. If this man was alive today he would probably been the fore most computer genius in world. But alas, we have Musk??? And what the hell is Sunak talking to him about AI for, is he now an 'expert'??

Is the "he" in your question a reference to Sunak or Musk? I'm assuming it refers to Sunak. His father-in-law was one of the founders of Infosys, so he may have picked up a thing or two over drinks of an evening.

Should we consider whether Musk is actually a Special Circumstances operative? The goal is to create total chaos on this planet and leave us helpless, and so we would then welcome the Culture stepping in and putting things to right. Or is he the equivalent of Joiler Veppers on the planet Sichult? Either way, we seem to have almost reached the civilisation level of the Sarl on the shellworld Sursamen.

Nothing of that will happen big scaled, especially not the universal high income. And those potentially bad robots, well, after the first or first few incidents, that those happen I wood agree with, all humans will hunt and destroy the whole technology representations. We humans are and always have been especially very creative and skilled when it comes to fighting, killing, torturing, destroying our own kind, so these new artificial and completely dependent battery toys surely aren't a challenge at all.

As long as we keep AI out and away from anything related to nuclear missiles or attack systems, we should be fine.
