LOL, brain damage, utterly at the top of the spectrum. A politicians (and there are many on the far right, AND far left in Europe) that spewforth hate speech, but it will be illegal for Twitter to merely disseminate.
The EU is what made Europe (and many other parts of the world) a mess it is today. Look what emission controls has achieved, an industry full of cheats. Aviation subsidies - deaths from intense competition. Energy -war.
Seriously, how brain damage can one organisation get from uncontrolled power? There is a very fine line between freedom and authoritarianism and the EU bureaucrats cross them every time.

Good!
Bob Fosse
“Billionaire Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal is, through his investment company, Twitter’s biggest shareholder after Musk.”
Saudi just sentenced a US citizen to 16 years in prison for tweeting about Khashoggi.

Along with European regulators, Musk risks running afoul of Apple and Google, which power most of the world’s smartphones.
Other than Twitter, every social media platform in the US is owned by a liberal company; then you have Tik Tok, run by the CCP. Not surprising the socialist-led European regulators are trying to shut down the free flow of expression on Twitter.
Twitter is the last bastion of free speech on social media platforms in America.

Very well put.
Bob Fosse
As a non European it is hardly surprising you are so misinformed on European issues

Did I do it right? Should have used bold?

This is too funny. The elites are really pooping their pants over losing control of one of their brainwashing tools.
Bob Fosse
The reality is far from funny. An ‘elite’ Saudi Arabian prince is salivating at gaining control over a tool being used to imprison people for ‘freedom of speech’.
That’s funny is it?
Bob Fosse

FizzBit
No, it is funny reading about democratic EU demanding similar "control", like your elite Saudi Arabian, and yet, Apple is actively participating with the CCCP to quell free speech, and yet, no MSM campaign against them. Only Musk.
virusrex
What do you mean? a quick search of "Apple airdrop China" gives a hundred thousand results in news, that more people are interested on what will happen with Twitter (and heavy fines or a ban could be the tipping point for a bankrupcy) is not strange or unexpected.

"over two million new sign-ups per day represent a 66% increase over the same period last year, according to figures released by Musk."
It seems average folks like the free speech idea. Only authoritarian regimes, thought control elites (EU, US) and corporations don't like it.

All companies must comply with the laws and rules of the countries they operate in.

Something that has been heavily reported everywhere. Your claim that only the EU control of tweeter is in the spotlight is the one that makes no sense, the Chinese situation is anything but ignored in the media.
That is a false dichotomy, this is not like people can only like absolute free speech without any kind of control or "thought control by the elites", people can validly choose a middle point where false, misleading speech that puts in risk others is limited.

It just sounds like Trump people can't make anything that really works and this implies Liberals are the smartest then? Liberals make the best solutions? yes, because Trump's TrumpBook is obviously garbage. Parler is garbage. Maybe Trump people should stop obsessing over abortion rights and get their minds on real solutions rather than trying to please the Jesus crowd. Lincoln was a high tech person for his time and helped win the war (Today Lincoln would be smart Liberal and I can't imagine anyone smart like Lincoln being a Trump person).

It's funny you think that.

Or St. Elon could just wait another couple weeks until his business burns to the ground. That is one alternative to complying with EU law....
And under the category of non-sequitur alert:
"According to figures released by Musk." Yeah, the unaudited figures of a private firm released by a sociopath. Due Dilligence anyone?
And not for nothing. 90% of Twitter's $5 Billion in Rev was from advertising last FY. 50 of the top 100 advertisers have stopped advertising. Even if every single one of the new users applied and paid for a blue check mark (Which they didn't) the WHOPPING $16 million in Revenue per month would not come close to being a drop in the bucket compared to the Ad $ lost. So..... It really means nothing.
starpunk
Muskrat had better learn that other nations and alliances have their rules and he'd better heed them. And with him apparently agreeing with the fascist traitor pig Donald Trump and the lippy antisemitic Ye by restoring their accounts, his true colors are shown. And the EU has the right to ban that crap with their controls. Freedom of speech comes with a responsibility and Muskrat must learn that, QUICK.
Sh1mon M4sada
Lots happening today, you'll have to google them all (it's reported on TV).
So the EU fresh off warning Twitter about speech (hate, untrue etc.), they're just added Russian propaganda to the warning as well. Oh Duh, as if the average un-brain damaged person can't figure out Russian propaganda from truth. I don't need a platform to filter this kind of stuff for me thanks, it's like banning Rodney or Yrral from this forum, you might not believe in their posts but they're highly entertaining. LOL.
Also reported the EU has blasted USA's Inflation Reduction Act. For once, a country (USA) has lead the way to building much needed and CRITICAL renewables infrastructures, but instead of following the lead (as it should), the EU is blasting USA for it. How quickly the EU forgets energy is one of the worst EU blunder in recent years directly causing the sufferings of Ukrainians who are receiving bombs funded by EU states through Russian energy dependency.
Also reported the EU has aggressively thrown down the ultimatum on products naming. This is the most racist, anti-multicultural export of the EU. It's saying that countries like NZ, Australia etc. who are successful multicultural countries with European immigrants making cheeses etc. but can't market their products by their traditional cultural names. WTF, should these countries deport all Euro immigrants because they won't be able to contribute to the countries they have settled in?
Instead, also reported, the EU has now drafted its own Critical Minerals Act, which on the surface criticizes China for dominating controls of the minerals, but on the other hand appeases China so they would not be denied the minerals, NO investments, like the IRA of the USA.
This is what happens when undemocratic bureaucrats get a seat at the table. War, Climate Catastrophy, Economic Catastrophy, all detached and unaccountable from the voting public. Watch Douglas Murray on YTube, his predictions on the EU are becoming reality.
painkiller
This was swept under the carpet.
virusrex
How does reporing something openly all over internet means it is being swept under the carpet? do you understand the meaning of the expression?
painkiller
Especially as it is being mentioned by you in an EU focused article.
virusrex
What does that have to do with the fact that being a well reported fact all over the world completely contradicts your criticism? sweeping something under the carpet is incompatible to it being all over the news as this has been, and that includes media easily accessible in the EU.
