Microsoft should not buy Tick-tok. But perhaps its patents.

Anyway, Microsoft Teams is crap, so I doubt Tick-tok will help much there.

And..... here's me getting a bit Political....

Microsoft has gone from a US Company to a US Company Employing Nationals from India to replace US Home grown Talent. And, if you think this is bad, it's going to get worse once we have US President who is intrinsically tied to India. Once you hire an Indian into a position of Power ... they simply continue to strengthen their "Power-base" by hiring other "Indian Nationals" around them.... it's not Merit based, but who you kiss ass to...

And, of course, this all relies on the 'unnamed sources' not being peddling a smokescreen for Microsoft while it tries to create a TikTok knockoff that the (American) courts could pretend is original, or feeding Trump and boosting MS stock values so a few people can make a killing and getting out of their MS holdings before the fallout from the American election and Covid19 fiasco crashes the value of American stocks

Same with the chinese, there are thousands of chinese doing post-doc in the U.S at super low salaries from NIH grants, lab heads prefer the chinese and indians they can make money of them offering low salaries that no other nationals or U.S citizen would accept. That is how U.S tech, research is siphoned off to china, some chinese post-docs are government workers disguised as researchers.

The problems with china we are having now are self made due to greed that has ended up creating a monster that cannot be controlled.

Well with more than 75 million active users and growing very fast (ahead of zoom), tells a very different story..

Majority of the top brains in IT are all Indians, example facebook was created by one divya narendra and not zuckerberg, high majority the cool IT tech you take for granted has Indian brains behind it, and yes they all make top dollar, and no, these IT firms employ the best, and that could be anyone, local or foreign is irrelevant.

Same with the chinese, there are thousands of chinese doing post-doc in the U.S at super low salaries from NIH grants, lab heads prefer the chinese and indians they can make money of them offering low salaries that no other nationals or U.S citizen would accept.

You are living in some alternate reality, the US universities for one attract world wide top talent research students, and have very stiff criteria for granting doctorate, all these "protesting" type students can never compete at this level, and no, they do there research, patents follow (owned by university) and they move to startups or work at tops firms in that sector.

@mrtinjp - it is not I who is "Living" within an Alternate reality, I speak from factual experience from the real life Business world.

Sadly, MS is the one stop shop for those Companies who have bought into the MS all-embracing contact.... so they're stuck with "Teams" - which has more to be desired of.

I will not disagree with you, on some of the "top brains" being Indian... BUT, I will say that those I have encountered tend to favour bringing in other Indians rather than Locals, etc. And from what I can understand, this is simply a Cultural Power play. Why are they not focusing on helping back home in India, rather than bringing over their own to replace local talent and thus, over time make it pointless for anyone locally to consider IT as a Career... THIS is what these "top brains" have done (or are doing)...

And as for the hiring Chinese... yes, I agree with other comments ... they are susceptible to coercion from back home in order to bring back Corporate Secrets for the benefit of the "Marxist" CCP - or else their Families back home get Tortured or simply ... disappear. Hence I will no longer hire Mainland Chinese Nationals. The Risk is too great.

Step 1. Deal with the CCP, then

Step 2. Sort out the imbalance with India, and other Countries (in future).

And before you raise it, I think Racism is a bad, people shouldn't judge each other based upon Nationality(!), Color of Skin, Religious beliefs, etc... but if needs be, then upon other factors - for example in Business - what they can do, and Socially - how they interact with you and others. This does not go against with the above observations - I have encountered many decent Chinese Co-Workers - who'd I stand beside, as friends, as too Indians. Though it's the few, that reach the top, that are the concern.... and whom, we need to be wary of wrt the future of our local "Markets". For example, right now, here in the Commercial Japan World, I see no future in IT now- unless you're from India...
