So, don't give FB your real name or phone number.

Naive....

THEY, all of them FB, Google, Yahoo.......already knows the real name, address, phone number, abd anything else you have submitted on forms on line.

When you join FB, all your contacts are uploaded to FB, when your friends....BUT, it only takes ONE friend with your contact usin real name for FB to initiate its algorithm and put 2+2 together and identify you.

Why is FB and commerce so synergistic? Because when you buy that cheap $1 flashlight, you also give away an email address, your postal address, your name, and sometime even phone number. On another database there is a list of email addresses that are related to one entity. On another database there is a database that identifies identity with search terms, holidays, cars...they know your intentions before you know. All these databases are exchanged freely between 'partners'. YOU are the product, no matter how many precaution you take.

There was a thread on WeChat that has now been shutdown, and it was duscussing why a Chinese government was ordering hundreds of millions of flashlights. They setup a clickbait to get people's real name and addresses and of course email address and IP address. Must have worked in China, because now, they're doing it internationally.

It's not surprising to get an Alipay account now, you have to provide a photocopy of your passport.

Sadly snooping and commerce has merged, because of Google etc., but if Google is allowed to do it, so are other more nefarious actors. We're all scheibed.
