Facebook apologizes for 'primates' label on video of Black men

I have a bottle of Dom Pérignon on ice for the last day of Facebook’s existence. Open call for anyone out there.

All humans are primates. If the AI was selective to only include black men in their grouping, then they need to apologize. But if they are showing all humans, chimps, gorillas, orangutans, and the 50 other species of primates, it is fine.

No human should be listed as a gorilla, unless they are a bouncer at a particularly rough bar.

Facebook should apologize to primates too for confusing them as homo sapiens.

It seems like Facebook has already used that approach, giving its AI the intelligence level of Father Dougal and the temperament of Father Jack.

Terrible! Just wondering why the 'B' in Black men is capitalized and the 'w' in white civilians is lower case.

Guess you've not interacted with other non-human primates too much? They can be thieves, vile, animals. Throwing their own crap, stealing, extortion and that's the animals, not humans.

FB is a cesspit , like Twitter and the rest. They make a fortune based on our own desire to use them. Nothing to be done about the garbage they carry unless they are totally reclassified as media.

Yeah and these are the people who get to “fact check” what can be posted online.

There are different ways to use FB. If you use it to post things for family to see and ignore all non-family stuff, then it isn't a cesspool.

I run a number of servers on the internet. Attempts to get family to move off facebook have failed. I setup similar tools just for the family to share photos, and "walls" of communications. Everything was encrypted both locally and during transmission. If anyone removed their content, it would be removed across all systems in the network. YOU controlled what was out there. Only 3 people out of about 20 even logged in.

Everyone said - just use FB. It is easier. And they had to use it anyway for other groups - like their kids' soccer teams and other sports teams announcements were all on FB. My website and app weren't going to replace the need for FB across their entire friends. To them, I was just like FB - even if there weren't any advertising or extremists posts on it.

I suspect the real answer was because FB came pre-installed on their phone, they use it.

That’s how I use it. I post pics, and look at my friends pics in various countries. I don’t read news, play games, or participate in political discussions. And I keep my friends to people I know and have met a few times. So it’s never really been a cesspit for me.

Why even spell black in uppercase while white was left lowercase? Are they considered more important? Isn't this racism against whites?

Why, if the video was labelled primates, automatically it was considered racism against blacks? Have they analysed the AI's response and concluded that is was labelled like than ONLY because it had blacks in it? Maybe it was the whites that triggered the response.

Humans are primates (specifically primate apes), for the less educated here.
