The process to prevent repeat sharing requires Facebook to retain the banned pictures in a database, although the images are blurred and only a small number of employees have access to the database, the company said.

Good move by Facebook, but I suspect we'll see them get hacked and this database shared with the world.

I had the same worries Dan. It's a good move, but they'll have to store all those pictures to compare against and that is a bit of a worry.

Can people not take naked photos in the 1st place? So, no fear of getting shared on the net or otherwise? Or, if they are brave enough in the first place, be indifferent about it even if shared.

Yeah this isnt going to end well if they are kept in a database. 'Although the images are blurred (masked?) and only a small number of employees have access to the database (to unmask?)'. We have already seen what happens in those type situations with classified info, much less nude pics which I am sure employees are more likely to want to see. I do think this is a serious problem, but I dont really know what to do about it.

It would be helpful if the nudes didnt exist in the first place, but that is called 'victim shaming' or something and we cant talk about that. So assuming they exist, I guess the Facebook ability to at least report it as a 'naked picture of me' is a good start to the conversation.

There'll be a lot of problems at first. I often get mail by people who have been 'tagged' in my photos when they are not there through the similar system they have in place where it thinks it recognizes someone in a photo and tags them (but it's not them). Of course, in my case it's not porn, revenge or otherwise, but I'm just saying photos that aren't revenge porn will be mistaken at times with the system, and I just hope no one gets in trouble for it if that the case.

Most people in the world are not hung up by nudity. It is more of a Catholic and Muslim thing.

If people would just not be afraid of their bodies, taking nude pictures would stop.

I have a better idea. Don't take narcissistic porn photos of yourself in the first place! What kind of a sicko would do that anyway? Revenge porn is definitely something one brings on by oneself!

Taking pictures and videos during sex is something done by many people with healthy sex lives, all over the world. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Revenge porn is definitely something one brings on by oneself!

The longer a conversation about a crime with a victim goes on on JT, the likelihood of someone blaming the victim approaches 1.

Disillusioned: "Don't take narcissistic porn photos of yourself in the first place!"

Ah, can't agree with you on that one unless you are just taking pics and sending them out at random. If you're an active couple seeking a bit of extra exciting, taking video or photos of a sexual nature can be pretty exciting for many.

This may come as a shock to you, but it is not healthy and there is plenty wrong with it! If your sex life is so terrible you have to watch videos of yourself or your partner to get your jollies, you are not doing it properly!

Yeah, that's all fun and games until the photos end up on FaceBook, of course!

So FB will have a library of revenge porn to compare against? what could possibly go wrong?

Im glad Facebook is doing this :) Revenge porn is done by people with no life. Now maybe we can do something about people who blame the victims
