In my opinion, the use of floating solar panels in areas where ground is desperately needed for growing crops is a brilliant idea. Here in the States, we put solar panels on roofs, in parking areas, and out in the deserts, where crops are not currently grown. I have never heard of anyone converting farmland for the use of solar panels, although wind turbines are very appropriately used in farm and ranchland.

So, it is similar idea to the one in Yamakura dam.
