people working the fields is as old as civilization itself.

There was no stereotype. Both men & women have been farming since the dawn of civilization.

Some people like to look for things that aren't there.

When there's money to be made and a chance to be a leader, you will find that all of a sudden it's a man's world. Take cooking for example, nearly all celebrity chefs are male. The other day a man was on TV to show women how to iron! When shorthand and typing started, men did it. Then they discovered women could do it while they gave dictation.
