None of the fuel is taxed, which would be a start. I don't see why someone going to work in a car should pay tax but someone going on holiday should not.

Greta Thunberg didn't help going on a ship, unless it was sailing on wind power.

Ships are very fuel-efficient](http://www.ics-shipping.org/shipping-facts/environmental-performance/comparison-of-co2-emissions-by-different-modes-of-transport) in terms of transporting cargo, but the heavy fuel oil (HFO) used by 80 percent of the world’s shipping fleet is nasty stuff. It’s more carbon-intensive than other fuels and produces other greenhouse gases as well as [air pollutants such as sulfur dioxide, which causes acid rain.
