And there it is. The dumbest thing I've read all day. I'm embarrassed that my country seems to be at the forefront of this ridiculous PC nonsense.

This is a real testament to the success and ingenuity of first world western countries who've reduced disease, infant mortality, hunger, poverty, homelessness, violence, crime, corruption, pollution, unemployment, dangerous workplaces and so on, to the point that being misgendered is now considered a serious problem. Bravo. Hopefully all other countries will one day have the luxury of being able to share these concerns.

I increasingly think these asinine proposals are used to intentionally mask other far worse behavior by industry or government. Big tech is increasingly viewed as evil, monopolistic etc. but hey look at this shiny unnecessary headline grabbing "innovation." Reminds me of when the US government said we simply had to bomb Afghanistan for more than a decade b/c we really wanted to empower women.

Finally, a pc machine!

What a momentous day in history this is......

@kurisupisu

Wouldn't that make it a... PC pc?

PC nonsense aside, I'm surprised google hasn't simply made an option in the user settings to check if you worry about gender pronouns hurting someone's feelings, or if a normal person, then the AI could provide suggestions based on that.

As if AI isn't being used to target users for advertising purposes based on gender stereotypes.

Really does this need to be a thing, if I get "mis-gendered" all I would do is send an email politely correcting the mistake, and that would be that. To stop word prediction is not right. This is more censorship than anything else. I mean I'm all for taking care of the next person but how does this help?

Google's technology will not suggest gender-based pronouns because the risk is too high that its "Smart Compose" technology might predict someone's sex or gender identity incorrectly and offend users, product leaders revealed to Reuters in interviews.

Beam me up Scotty! I gotta get off this rock!

I'm going to make it my goal in life now to screw with these idiots offended by gender pronouns.

Most European languages have male and female nouns and some even have neuters. Not quite so easy to make gender completely transparent there, or is this just for people and not for objects?

PC run wild, pathetic, as if these companies don’t have more serious concerns to address.

I demand compensation as my feewings are hurt (boo hoo).
