Fujitsu on Tuesday announced the release of the Stylistic M532/EA4 Android 4.0 tablet for business. Pricing is open for the tablet but it is expected to sell for about 50,000 yen.

This tablet boasts a quad-core processor, 10.1-inch screen, 13.4 hours of battery life, and other features designed for maximum usability, all in a package that weighs only 560 grams, but is tough enough to meet the U.S. military’s strict standards. These outstanding mobility-oriented features make it the ideal companion in any number of business environments, such as a sales tool for customer visits, or as a mobile presentation device to show video catalogs in excellent picture quality.

Features

  1. Quad-core processor and support for the latest Android OS provide smooth video playback

The new tablet runs Android4.0, the latest version of the operating system, and is built around the NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor with GeForce® graphics for superior processing power and graphics performance.

The combination of an easy-to-use interface and powerful hardware results in smooth multi-touch operability with ten-finger sensitivity, high-quality video playback, and overall application responsiveness.

  1. An expansive mobile computing environment

Robust specifications make this tablet ideal for a wide range of business situations. A big 10.1-inch display (1,280 × 800 resolution) with a wide viewing angle is perfect for one-on-one presentations, and IEEE802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi offers fast wireless networking. A two-megapixel front-side camera and eight-megapixel backside camera make it ideal for videoconferencing or logging maintenance inspections and job-site walkthroughs.

  1. Lightweight but rugged body and long battery run time

The tablet’s chassis meets the U.S. military’s specifications for durability and dust-proofing, but weighs only about 560 grams. It has passed the stringent environmental testing that the U.S. military requires for equipment procurement, running at elevations as high as 4,872 meters, at temperatures from -22ºF to 122ºF (from -30ºC to 50ºC), under high humidity, and in dusty environments. Also, its long 13.4-hour battery runtime complements its mobility.

  1. Useful for a wide range of business applications, such as video presentations

This tablet is designed to be used for a wide range of business purposes in a mobile setting, from a lightweight sales terminal to a high-quality video-presentation tool.

Fujitsu has also announced the sale of the Stylistic Q702/F hybrid tablet for around 149,000 yen.

Fujitsu make the worst bloatware for Android phones I can't imgaine their tablet not to be the same. You're better buying a tablet from china on the internet with the same spec for 15,000 yen so you can upgrade in a year when the next version comes out without spending another 150,000yen

I'm OK with Fujitsu Tablets so I was interested in this new model until I read the last sentence.

Price: Around 149,000 yen

Wow...

gogogo, you beat me to the punch. I just visited Hong Kong and saw stacks and stacks of android tablets with similar specs for 1/10th the price. I wanted to go for a 7" instead so I can put it in my bag better, and got a Pipo U1 with a dual core 1.6 Ghz processor and 16gig of memory. It's running android 4.1. Oh and it cost ~12,000 yen. Yes, the battery might not be as good as the Fujitsu but I could smash it 10 times and still not pay as much. And for the record it also runs pretty fast, better in fact than my old iPad (1st gen) did.

blackbagger: I did the same but I purchased online, I figure even if it breaks 3 times I could always replace it with another one and still be cheaper than an ipad...

For the record it hasn't broken at all and fits in my suit pocket since it is 7inch

Pay more attention people. The reason why it's so expensive is that, unlike most tablets, it can run and is certified to run in all environments, from Canadian winters to Saharan deserts. Few tablets can claim the same. That may seem like a unimportant feature for mainstream consumers who rarely take the devices out of air conditioned environments, and it is, but for certain applications and for certain organizations that demand products they can depend on to keep working no matter what, it's an essential feature well worth the cost.

Roughness in a product, just like hardware precision (like lens and measuring tools), is extremely expensive. Always has been.

Why would I want to pay for that? Who has plans to visit the Saharan desert?

it's a prosumer model for armies and Macgyver types, Not for urban punters. no one here will be buying one. It is a cool concept nonetheless. Android - something for everyone.

From the Fujitsu press release: Stylistic M532/EA4: open pricing

Directly from Fujitsu via their online marketplace, this model is selling for 59,800円.

Why is another model listed with price information in this press release, I do not understand. Unfortunately the article author has confused the price (149,800円) of the previously announced Q702/F hydrid tablet which uses Windows 7 and a corei5.

jerm0jp; Yeah your correct, the article is wrong, the Stylistic Q702/F costs 149,000 the M532/EA4 costs 59,800
