75% of Japanese smartphone owners use their devices for shopping
That's funny. I'd never consider using a smartphone or a small tablet for shopping, especially large items like furniture. Buying tickets, etc, maybe, but punching in credit card numbers and delivery addresses etc, on those screens, ? No thanks.
gogogo
I highly doubt that number, does shopping mean actual purchase or just "window browsing" ?

Does displaying the cheapest internet price on Kakaku.com to a salesperson at Yodobashi Camera count as 'using their device for shopping?'
If so, then guilty as charged
TokyoGas
Maybe part of the 75% mention included ewallet, or whatever it is called.

People that ordered quick enough this morning already had their devices shipped with projected delivery dates on thursday.

The NFC doesn't use the Felica protocol commonly used in Japan, so it won't work with 99% of the installed contactless base.

No TV Out on this is a major downer. Would be interested other wise...
And that comment about having to type your credit card number in on a mobile device... Haha, that is not how it works. You just sign in once with your Amazon, Rakuten or whatever, and order with 1-click. Simple. I do it all the time.

At least it's 16 GB. Nexus 8.9 or Nexus 10 should come out soon.

from all i read it does look like the best price/quality tablet atm ... no possibility at expansion though but who really needs more than 16gb ? AND ... they didn't force chinese students to make them. But is that really an issue overthere at the moment i wonder? I see people getting ready to tear eachothers hearts out because a few on top can't get along. Restrain yourselves, please if i might ask. That serves no one. I'd post it on a chinese site but i cant find one similar to this and i dont know if they would let me speak anyway

??? just get an adapter, there are plenty of options out there. It'sa USB micro - industry standard. Go micro USB to RCA or Micro USB to HDMI (the HDMI section will likely need a external power source as HDMI needs more juice than tiny devices can give it. Most tablets lack a dedicated video out slot.
The bizarre comment about inputting our data to buy stuff made me laugh. Online shopping has never been easier. Amazon: and your done.

Nope adapters don't work either because the Nexus 7 doesn't support Mobile High-Definition Link (USB to HDMI capability).
You might want to wait for the Kindle Fire HD.

that's really good news! such a powerful toy for such a low price, compared to all japanese tabs that are so brutally over-priced. hope this spurs sony and all others to get more creative-competitive and lower their abusive prices.
and hopefully soon there's free wifi everywhere, and it's the end of the japanese cell-phone monopoly.

Google asked 100 peoples and 75 peoples who used smartphone for shopping and other 25 peoples didn't. Google missed out the rest Japanese Smart phone owners who never used Smart phone for shopping. so my understanding is only 75 peoples are using smart for for their shopping in Japan as according to Google survey.

I should have mine tonight. Google must have cut a massive volume deal with FedEx because each unit bound for japan is individually airshipped from Hongkong via Guanzhou.
