We’d be forced to stop linking to news content on Google Search...

Not at all - it just means Google NZ would have to pay a pay a fair price for content they profit from.

Canada has greatly improved since Facebook stopped posting news links.

Less convoyers and less people going on about trump. Canada Day this year was actually pleasant, with celebrations and people showing pride in the flag. The convoyers stole the flag for a few years.

Good to hear. Just facebook or did all social media stop linking news?

I’m not sure. I don’t use social media, but it was all over the news about Facebook. There was talk of Google stopping news here too but I don’t think that came about.

Remember when all social media was was people liking and poking each other? Those were the days. Hopefully things improve in NZ as well.

It is possible to NOT use these social media apps. Make the choice for yourself.

Google's business model is based on taking information from every possible source, repackaging it, and reselling it without compensating the people/organizations they took the information from.

In many parts of the world, that is called theft and it is illegal.

Google needs a better business model. Nobody forces you to use Google for anything. It is a choice.
