Perhaps games could flash subliminal messages, like in the Simpsons episode New Kids on the Blecch (guest stars N Synch) where the message was (backwards) "yvan eht nioj"

Plastic packaging and CDs can go in a snap, steam is a proven game platform, Sony and Microsoft can do the same with their consoles, why don't they ?

The original Nintendo Famicom/NES from the 80s only used 4w of power. By the time the Playstation 3 came out they were using 150w, almost 40 times more. Modern consoles are climate beasts. Go retro.

Jesus. I play video games to get away from reality, not be reminded of it. By all means, improve console energy consumption, but please leave the games alone. If I want to fight climate change, I would do it in the real world.

Well said extanker! As much as I support fighting climate change and going green, I want to do that stuff in real life, not in fantasy like video games. Because as you said, it’s a place you can go to escape, not be reminded of reality.

And in terms of the issue of video game packaging and disc and stuff, I hear you. However, I’m very untrusting of putting everything online. Because as the old saying goes, “don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” Because if there’s any hacking, or system failure and the video games and especially your personal data go, you’re screwed. Screwed, big time.
