The UN just keeps churning out reasons for leaving it.

These SJWs are never happy. If Siri had a male voice, they'd be upset because it's reinforcing the patriarchy by having a male tell women what to do!

Defund these morons and let them survive privately on whatever merits they might be able to scrape together.

True, as a 'reasonable' feminist myself, this is going too far. If a male voice was used by default, all the unreasonable feminists, and apparently the UN would start crying: why not a female voice???!!!

"The world needs to pay much closer attention to how, when and whether AI technologies are gendered and, crucially, who is gendering them," said Saniye Gulser Corat, UNESCO's director for gender equality.

Thanks for the morning laugh.

Defund this department immediately!

Aren't their any serious 3rd world problems she could using her brain power for?

Sheesh

whats her end game? Every spoken word not by a person will have a gender free robotic voice? Is that even possible?

Follow this lady and the world will be void of color and personality. Just don’t look under her bed or you’ll find her black leather toys.

My Siri has a very nice UK-accented male voice. It's very helpful, if sometimes a bit cloth-eared. I don't consider it to be sexist, servile or in any way reinforcing any gender bias. I've also never even considered trying to sexually harass it. (Why would anyone waste time insulting a piece of code in a machine??)

It's just an algorithm, fcs.

Methinks any 'problems' are in the mind of the beholder.

Have these people nothing better to do with their time and our money?

'Cause we're boys, and that's what we do. I asked Siri some downright dirty stuff, when I first got it.

Methinks any 'problems' are in the mind of the beholder.

I agree.

This is insane, this director of "equality" needs to find a new gig!!

What madness is this now? Did the UN outlaw secretaries in every office in the world? No, huh

I use Siri to "Open Google", then Ok Google my questions anyway

Did the UN just assume Siri's gender?

Another great, and hilarious comment on JT! Thanks for the laugh.

I thought some people might think I was serious... :-) Thanks for having a sense of humor!

With some car navi systems you get a choice of male of female voice. Maybe there should be a twizzle button for adjusting gender bias, left right or neutral.

Or is that problematical because of quote: "crucially, who is gendering them"(?).

Isn't there an option to make it a male voice? I don't understand the issue here.
