Apple moves to store iCloud keys in China, raising human rights fears

China, and olive branch in one hand and the threat of tyrannical rule hidden behind its back. Beware world.

Money talks and Apple is big money. In actuality, the more data you collect, the more data you have to turn over to authorities. That will make their job impossible eventually to filter through it all. Make fake data...filllllll the servers with data.

Apple said it had to comply with recently introduced Chinese laws that require cloud services offered to Chinese citizens be operated by Chinese companies and that the data be stored in China.

Because, y'know, money.

Apple is not a political party, it's a company that has to respond to its shareholders. People blaming Apple are shooting the messenger here. Also, let's not forget that the Chinese political system is a fruit of wild popular support by this generation's parents and grandparents in the past. Did you want communism and a full control of your lives by the state? Now you have it, my yellow friends

@zichi - You're totally correct. You don't need to use Apples Cloud Services, and the iPhone security itself is not being changed for China users.

Personally, storing anything sensitive online would be questionable these days, regardless what Apple or Microsoft or some other company says about their Security.

And as for Apple's online storage.. it's pitifully small compared to the phone capacities being sold, which would force you to fork out extra money per year in order to increase it's capacity to match your phone....
