If this is accurate then it's pretty amazing. I'd like to see more data on costs per appliance/gadget and see where the energy hogs are.

The most compelling reason yet for the environmentally conscious to own an iPad.

The figure inJapan is dfferent, actually a bit cheaper.

If you charge an iPad everyday from 0 to%, it will use about 24kWh/yr .

24 x ¥0.56 (from Jul.1) =¥13.44/yr. I'm usng my iPad with a keyboard case and additional battery which doubles my iPad battery time to about 20 hours. 90% of my computer work is now done on my iPad.

A desktop used for the same hours would be about 1800 kWh/yr = 1800 x ¥0.56 =¥1,000

it could also be argued that in manufacture, iPads use less materials and energy than desktops or laptops.
