No one has yet convincingly explained why we need driverless cars.

We don't 'need' them any more than we need drivered cars.

But as to why they are preferable over drivered cars, well there are a few reasons. The first is that driverless cars are better drivers than humans. They have more sensors and faster response times. This will result in safer roads for all. And finally, with driverless cars, you can remove a significant number of cars from the roads. For example, if I share a car with my wife, I get the car to drive me to work, then go pick her up and drive her. Then when I'm getting ready for lunch, I call the car over to my office, then later send it to pick her up while I'm in a meeting. We would need two cars in our family to handle this with drivered cars. If you start car-sharing amongst groups of people, that's even more cars off the roads.

Self taught educational system.

Ahh, well that explains why you are stating things that everyone knows are false.

Maybe you should try getting an education in the real world, about real things.

Hmmmm......  Possibly.  Set against the millions of people who currently make a living driving cars of one type or another and who will put out of work.

And set against the risk that the tech won't be as flawless as intended.

So then, do you want an AI that drives like a Chinese driver, or do you want an AI that drives like a Japanese driver?

Is this some stealth racist jabs that Asians are bad at driving?

Wouldn't this make it easier for the Chinese to steal Japanese technology?

If there's a steal, it is time for Japan to steal from China. their investment in AI is far outpacing that of Japan right now. Using their knowledge for my gain is a very smart move

Just one driverless car will make about 50 to 100 people late for work where I live

No one has yet convincingly explained why we need driverless cars.  And yet it appears to be a new tech mania.
