This is obviously a wildly popular topic. Not.

“So little, so late” could be a good motto. For safety reasons they might have to be placed all around, and on the Pacific Ocean side too as enemy states might have fun picking them off in a state of war.

Yesterday on the news they showed an experimental upright floating turbine being dropped into the sea.

Oh, “Slow and steady wins the race!” might be applicable too.

China is building the world's largest offshore turbines. 18MW with 150-meter blades.

Depends on whether Japan wants to reinvent the wheel and wait for a Japanese product or get moving with the technology and expertise that is already available. They certainly are not setting them selves a challenging target.

20 percent each from nuclear power and coal.

Coal shouldn’t even figure in this projection, if they wanted to this could be completely replaced, like I said not setting any challenging targets.

Of course they could make things easier for them selves if they reduced the energy requirement by mandating simple remedy’s like insulation and improved building standards and legally binding energy/carbon reduction targets for industry.
