Better face shields would be a very welcome development, used properly (at the same time with a face mask and taking proper care when putting it on and off to avoid contamination) they can become a very good piece of personal protective equipment, but working on a hospital with them becomes frustrating and may increase mistakes because how they prevent having a clear field of vision.

Face shields alone don't stop the spread.

According to the results released in August, the face shield allowed nearly 100 percent of aerosol particles, which measure 5 micrometers or less, and half of droplets of 50 micrometers to leak.

Also, this is probably similar technology that Smith Eyewear uses on their glasses and goggles to prevent fogging. They use chemical etching to create a bumpy surface that's difficult for water molecules to adhere to.
