Not really. Breeding mice for scientific experiments is important work. If this makes sending sperm for specific breeds of mouse more easily accomplished then it helps science overall.

Reading the headline I initially thought they had developed postcards made of freeze-dried mouse sperm and I thought "Why would anyone in their right mind ever buy something like that?"

When I was in the navy Propulsion Engineering Basics School, we learned about lubricating ship and sub plant valve stems. The lube grease consists of llama sperm. No joke. And it's greasy, rusty red in color and it's messy.

Looks like scientists get far off track with their work too.

Though I understand that all research is essential and research into esoteric topics can also contribute towards expanding our body of knowledge, I am really not envious of these researchers for whom handling mouse sperm is a part of roles and responsibilities.
