What I can't understand is these 'in-app' payments for games. You're basically paying to make it easier to win, which surely defeats the whole purpose of playing the game and takes away all the enjoyment.

Some games are pay-2-win

Some games the in-app microtransactions are just cosmetic

It's up to people to do their research

As for these game developers complaining about paying a commission to Apple - duh, it's their platform, they spend the last 40 years or so making it what it is. If I want to ride on a Shinkansen or a plane, I gotta buy a ticket; if you want to sell your stuff through Apple, then you pay their fees.

The arguments on court went beyond being a platform - after all, macOS and MS Windows don't charge when ya buy something there

I can understand paying for an app, whether for productivity or a game or whatever.

One huge advantage of using Apple products is the security; you can be reasonably confident anything you put on your device from the App Store is safe and isn't going to start leaking your data all over the net.

Freeloaders.

Both Epic and Apple lost

Epic stands to lose hundreds of millions of dollars; Apple billions

Good decision!

I think so. Apple gets to keep Epic out of their App Store.

Epic are pissed. They are appealing this decision. Sore losers.
