When I read the high line of the article, I at first thought it was about the Kansai Electric Power Company. This makes more sense. Article does not mention anything about Jordan having one of the worlds largest natural reserve of uranium (>2% of world total) and that they are also seeking to enrich their own nuclear fuel. But unlike Iran they are seeking the approval of US to do so. So there is of course huge economic interests at play here.
They only have about one quarter of the land surface area of Japan, and with only a tiny little sliver of coast line. I sure hope their nuclear ambitions does not blow up in their faces, because they would lose habitability in a substantial part of their country and perhaps the whole coastline if it does.

@Squidbert- Where does it say that it will be a nuclear power plant? In other news, it was reported to be a diesel-powered plant:

I does not, my apologies. As I did hear a while back about Jordan seeking nuclear power, I just assumed (which is usually a bad idea). Thanks for the additional information.
