Why so secretive on a supposedly scientific mission

Someday in the future a spacecraft from Earth is going to set down on a distant planet, unfold it's solar panels, raise its camera up on a stalk, take a look around the landing site and see a spacecraft from another world sitting there with its camera or other sensors looking back at it.
