From the perspective of a Company, I'd rather purchase a Service from an organisation that has no other function other than to provide video-conferencing. With the likes of Facebook, etc... I'm left wondering, especially given past histories, what they may be doing with these online calls - listening in, for example, could be an obvious way of obtaining insider information...

Of course they do; how else are they going to mine you for more data.

Facebook sells a product, namely your data and they sell it to the highest bidder.

It may not be just for profit from all indications. They (the social media and communication companies) have more data now about the users than most governments. For some governments such information gathered can be an extremely useful tool in manipulating their population just as Facebook and others are doing by manipulating the flow of information and directing people's thoughts and feelings by mining our "preferences" and "choices". In effect they control unsuspecting users like us more than the government.

I would not give them any more information than absolutely necessary. They can be the very ones manipulating information to control the government in their favor.
